Purchased Car with System and Amp kicks off with low Bass...

what i would do man is first stick the ohmmeter in the terminals and see if it gives u a number close to 4. if not then i would take out individually and check each subs coil. then go from there

I'll post up and let you know what I find.

And thank you all for the tips.

I had NO IDEA that you guys were going to be so helpful.

Thank you.

when you fix the problem..get a new box asap
Why, does the box the subs are mounted in **** or something? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

(lol that smiley owns! haha)

Hey guys.

I Ohmeometered my Subbox and got 3.6ohms.

This means that my Dual 12" CVRs are 4 total ohm and not blown right???

Does this mean that there is something wrong with my amp?

well now since u have a dmm and want to set gains somewhat better possibly u need to download a test tone 50hz onto a cd and set your treble and bass at zero on the headunit and turn it up 75% of the Hu's vol and adjust the gain to get the correct volts for 4 ohms, make sure you disconnect the speakers first

read the sticky on amp setting gain

34.64 volts is what it should read on the amp outputs for 300rms at 4ohms thats all you are gonna be able to give those subs

u need something thats 1ohm stable that does around 1kwatts

no they are rated 400 rms each, the comps are rated 150 i believe. and to the OP you can download a 50 hertz test tone on realmofexcursion.com, im not sure if they have one here. eitehr way your gonna need a better amp to get better output, try nd get close to 800 at 4 ohm. plenty of options in the classifieds.

oh and try this, using the dmm with the car on, test the voltage at the amp, turn it up little by little and see if you get a big voltage drop, you shouldnt because your not running that much power though....

wow i really thought that would be your problem. well test the voltage at the amp when you are playing it and it cuts out and see what it reads

dude you are an idiot why would you get something at 4ohms that does 800rms thats gonna cost alot more, you can wire them to a 1ohm load and get something that does 800@1ohm and i would suggest something that does 1k@1ohm so its not as expensive

only good thing with an amp that does 800@4ohms is you have more power avaible since it can prob do 2 and 1ohm
