CD player cuts out when engine starts - Help

The CD Player in the car (not standard, fitted by previous owner) works fine with the key in the ignition and turn to power up the cars systems BUT when the key is fully turned to start the engine the CD player cuts out and doesnt come back on with the engine running.

I'm guessing some kind of voltage drop maybe? but a i say, im new to cars, hell only past my test on thursday and got this car today //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

sound like to me the wiring isn't hooked up right i'd check the wiring.
