Depends on the sub and if the amp is capable of sending that signal without being clipped. What sub/amp are you looking at running?

It's a jbl gto 10" 350rms 1400 max with a kenwood 1000 max 500rms

You'll be fine. The KW will probably go to about 400W before it starts clipping which will be fine. Just to be safe, what's the model number of the Kenwood?

Kac-8105 when I turn the volume up to what i normally listen to the sub doesn't put out much bass

That has more to do with how your sub is wired and what enclosure it's sitting in. To get the most power out of that amp, you should be wired in parallel (2ohms). Otherwise the most that sub will see out of the amp is 300W. I'm guessing it's the enclosure.

Also check your HU and amp settings to make sure you're not double-filtering. LPF should be set to about 80Hz and make sure the sub level on the HU isn't all the way down.

It's running at 2ohms and I have the hu set to through the box is .9 ft^3 sealed

You should get a ported box. A 10 in a sealed box on ~350 will not be loud.

It's running on 500 but if I did get a ported then it wouldn't be able to handle as much power before bottoming out would it

it would still be fine on the power in a ported box as long as it has a good signal
