Is this a good first 12" subwoofer setup?

This is my first subwoofer setup I am putting together. Never had one, always wanted one.

Anyway, do you think this setup will do me good? I'm looking for some serious bang from one 12" on a budget. (my budget being about $180-200) and this setup seems promising to me. Any suggestions? Will this setup be any good? Anything else I need?

12" Pioneer TS-W309S4 (Has awesome reviews, seems VERY nice to me for the price)

Boss AR1500M 1500W Max Amplifier (Also has good reviews - lot of rms power for it's price)

Sonic 12" Subwoofer Box (Has about the same cubic footage as the subwoofer recommends 1.2ft)

All of this from SonicElectronix.

And would an 8 gauge wiring kit do the trick or should I go for the 4 as Sonic recommends?

Anyone's input will help! Thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sub = decent

amp = junk, will do only around 200-250 watts rms

box = prefab (not good)

I doubt youd need 4 gauge for that small amp but its better keep around in case you upgrade. But try it out if you already purchased it, and if you end up liking it, then thats all that matters. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Hmm, and yes I have about a $200 budget for everything - this setup being about $175.

As far as Craigslist goes, since I am very inexperienced I feel as though I won't be as informed as I'd like to be when dealing with quick sales. I have been researching this setup and finding that it does seem rather nice. If I were to purchase a combination online like this, would this be a good setup for that price range?

Also, @myjaja any recommendations of a better amplifier for around my price range? I would like to power this thing adequately //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I'm not a fan of that amp personally. Other then that it don't look to bad for the budget.
Yeah, I mean I know I've heard Boss isn't the best with car audio but I know their stuff's usually pretty cheap. If the thing really is only putting out 200watts RMS of course I should probably reconsider. But the sub woofer to me seems like a great deal especially for the price, definitely!

I second this - ever heard them? Are they like an off brand? The subwoofer does look pretty nice itself and the 800 RMS definitely sounds nice.
I would run 800 to the pair, 400 each, and seal them. I had a pair in a nice sealed atrend prefab on an apsm-1300 and they sounded really good and got low in just 1.25 each. They only have 2" coils...

Not too shabby for a 56 dollar subwoofer though... Someone should do a big ol' budget build with a bunch of these.
