Ok so If anyone wants to. Or is interested.. I want a nice stereo in my 1995 jeep yj now.. I invested quite a bit of cash already what with the *12w7 in the h.o. Box being pushed by jl's new hd1200 ....*

Let's see what else do I have laying around,

Subs*

8w3v3 * * Two of them*

A jl 10 not sure which one..*

12w7 h.o.

Amps*

JL G-series 1700F

JL G-series 4500*

JL 300/4

JL hd1200

So as is I just ordered a 170 amp alt from mechman. ThAt way I'm not just playing band aid with a second battery.. 400$ *anyone who's wondering*

After some questions on the install part of this forum I Went to my local stereo shop...*

My dash speakers are 3.5 inch "image enhancing"(whatever that means) *ken wood... The roll bar/sound bar add on are 5.25' jvc I dunno they sound pretty good.. So there's four speakers. But my driver dash one doesn't work.. So I'll get that looked at remember 95 jeep yj so if you know about these dashes and the speakers behind them and what a PITA *it is to deal with you will understand why I just changed the speakers from stock and didn't look into why the driver front don't work. If your not familiar a simple jeepforum search with familiarize you... K do those are the speakers installed, and the 0 gauge wire to a 200amp fuse to 0guage through the firewall to the back to a jl fuse block goes from one *0guage wire to two 4guage each on a 100amp maxi fuse.. The 4 gauge goes to my hd1200 wich powers my 12w7 h.o. Box...*

So... Guy comes out. Has a look in my truck. His First words are.."first thing I would do is turf the enclosure"..*

This confuses me.. My ported h.o enclosure.. Really.. I read everywhere it should pound harder than a sealed... But he wants to build me a sealed enclosure.. Is he Just trying to make money?? *How much do u think a custom enclosure will run me to fit the back of my jeep.. Is it worth that cash for the difference it'll make??*

My next question is on this forum ppl are saying don't mix subs.. While I understand not hooking up two 8's and a 12 to the same amp. When a distribution block is present the second fused line goes to a second amp so if one amp is pushing two 8's and the other amp is pushing one 12 then why should I not run two diff size subs?? The amps and or frequencies should not interfere..*

Even the two techs at the store tell me it's fine to run the two different sizes they will put two 8's and a 12 in a custom enclosure for me and tell me its not bad,so these answers will be run by them.. I have an appt this week to go talk and pull my truck in..*

Also back to the dash speakers if you know how they are.. He took one look at those and went.. Holy they are just bolted there?? Gotta build enclosures for them..*

1. Wonder how much that will be*

2. Wonder what he will mess up back there trying to put them in

3. The speaker barley fits.. A box for them. Good luck.*

For my third question.. What are the best component speakers to go with my 12w7 ???. *Or If anyone wants to suggest a complete system for me to install.. Reccomendations on best of best... Of course varies *by opinion Keep it practical.. I still 4x4 and still need to fit groceries..so I don't want no put as many 15 inch of this as you can fit bs.. I want a nice clean Idea best sound quality nice and loud. *Pretend your the professional designing and installing for a customer.. If I see something I like I'll pick one and do it..*

Try to include..

Head unit,speakers,sub/s,amp.*

*

Don't mix the subs. You'll do more harm than good. There is absolutely nothing to gain from having two 8s and a 12 in your trunk. You'll run into issues with cancellation and just plain old looking stupid...

Get a decent component set instead of swapping the 3.5 dash speakers. Budget?

Like I said... Suggestions??? What'll sound nice in my jeep for component speakers???

Why is the guys at the shop telling me I can run them no problem.. How is cancellation going to happen? Is the box they make going to be so much better it's gonna be worth the $$??? My budget is pretty much anything that tickles my fancy. I'll spend pretty much whatever to do it right

Really??? Does everyone really just bash the W7 an have no input!??? And no one can tell me what the best is?? ... Come on people I want a beast stereo in my truck..

Do I have to make it easier

Question 1 is the custom enclosure (sealed) really going to be noticeable and that much better?? Worth the $$$??? I don't get it the h.o box says its the box for the sub the guy at the store says "of course they will say that" and says he will build me one that sounds way better ???? Truth behind this?? Or money making scheme?

Question 2 they say it's fine to build me an enclosure and put two 8w3v3 in them off one amp and a 12w7 off another... Why ???

They are sales people, and theyre trying to get you to leave with 3 woofers instead of one... no wonder why they tell you its better to give them more money

I have the woofers... He wants to build me a box... Tells me my h.o. Box the w7 is in *****...

Mixing subs is dumb, talk to real professionals on here that are not just in it for the money. Some peoples professionalism on here is questionable, but if I was you I wouldn't talk to anyone about your speakers again wherever you are going. They will sell you whatever it takes, tell you whatever you want to hear to make you feel like anything is a good idea when it's actually a load of crap.

A lot of people on here are sales people, plenty of actual vendors who will sale you the stuff you want/need.

I have no experience with JL Audio, but their sub/enclosure packages are no joke. This guy's attitude would make me want to leave and never come back.
It's the only place in town //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I have to go there to get the gains set on my amp so I don't blow the sub with the hd1200

Being the only guy in town shouldn't mean you can trash talk a customer's equipment. It's unprofessional and I never do that, and I'm the only place in town.

I've done one Jeep Wrangler with the sound bar overhead and it's a strange setup for speakers. Unfortunately, if your 3.5s are mounted like I'm imagining, it's the laziest way the manufacturer could have done it. Custom enclosures would definitely improve their sound, but anyone who knows how to do that right is going to charge much more than a set of speakers will cost.

I have a dmm and the charts come with the amp I do believe.. I still have not a clue???sorry.. It has some 9step procedure for each speaker blah blah blah.. I just want everything to work and be nice and not break and be loud. Don't want to get ripped off

look at your chart, look at the ohms you want to run at, then look at the watts, where those two coincide that's the voltage you should set your gain with, for subs you use a constant 40 hz tone, I think its 40 look in the help 101 tab and you'll find everything you need to do things yourself if you don't trust the audio shop
