The headunit will work, yes. But you've got "SQ" gear there, and JVC isn't really known for making anything more than an adequate deck. They've got a couple nice ones. If you're looking new though, you'd be much better off looking into the Pioneer 80prs, lots of capabilities there. And if you're open to used, for a few dollars more, you could look into an Alpine 9855, 9887, Eclipse CD5030, 7100. Something with stronger pre-outs is always nice, so you don't have to crank the gains up as much.but should my headunit be fine? im really not going for looks and a screen isnt important to me. I just need it to run my system properly and of course sound good. i guess what im asking is will buying a more expensive HU make any difference in sound.
Also, I'd agree with either ditching the rear-fill, or using something else, or only powering it off the HU. As stated, you want the sound-stage in front of you. With a solid front-stage, you won't hear the rear-fill anyways. So, if you are insistent upon using all 4 channels, and using the JL 6x9 w-ways, at least turn the gain down a bit on them so they don't interfere with the front.
