New DD sub.....Serial #0001

As far as the shorting ring in the DD -- probably a magnet ID ring which would not require any gap widening. DD already runs ultra tight gaps in their drivers... at least all of the ones I have re-coned have been so -- I don't imagine they could make them all that much tighter for production without risking lots of rub.

I started messing with shorting rings on the Z v.2 and NS v.2 lines -- I like the benefits so I'll be implementing them in all but our cheapest woofers as I revise / release the lines. IIRC DD started doing it on the 9500 a while back; at least their site indicated as such. I have a 3500E motor here that does not have one, though -- as I accidentally knocked the top plate off I have a good view //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Pretty cool, though -- would be nice if DD said exactly what the changes were as it's always interesting to hear about sub improvements.

I see what your saying, but think about it like this.Back when Adire released XBL^2, alot of people talked chit about how they sounded dry or didn't play well above 60hz. Hell, the guys at SI talked chit about them forever, but then, lowe and behold....the new SI subs are XBL^2 licensed....lol

Perhaps DD tested similar things in the past but didn't like the results, but later tailored existing tech to fit their requirements.
Back up your erroneous make-believe statement about me (SI) talking crap about XBL^2. Show me. Please.

I would wait for said proof, but it will never be presented because I have not said anything negative about XBL^2.

Now stop living in your imagination, which is not based in reality, and do not state false information about my company. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Ok, I'll go ahead and apologize to you now. It wasn't SI (you) that bashed XBL^2 vs the Mag v1, but rather the bandwagon riders on forums w/ little to no experience w/ multiple subs in multiple installs.
