Differences in pole and top-plate IIRC. In addition to a shorting ring.

Increases efficiency, reduces stray magnetic field. DD says the SC-1500 motor has nearly the same motor force as a normal 2500 motor.

SC-option is now available for 1500 and up series motors. And the price is VERY reasonable for the upgrade.
