Is my sub ruined?

My sub smoked the other day due to the box it was in and the increased gain. It wasn't me being stupid it was just taking some advice that happened to be wrong. Anyway I got the burned coil smell while my sub was still hitting. I turned off my H/U and 5 minutes later pulled into a park lot. A little smoke was coming out of the port so I pulled the sub. There is no scratching while pushing down and both sides of the coil read 2 ohms on my DMM (dual 2 ohm sub if you hadn't guessed) So is it ruined or can I use it again?
