Is my sub gonna blow?

Ok system is in a 03 taurus. 1 idmax 12 d4 v3 in a 2.5 cu ft ported box tuned to 34hz. its being powered by a sundown saz-1500d at 2 ohm. My question is that when im playing the sub pretty hard it starts to smell a little bit. the sub is only about a month old and this is the 1st time its ever seen more than 400 watts. there is no mechanical noises from the sub and the smell has gotten less and less as the days go buy. the amp is getting a steady 13.9 volts under heavy load so it may be pushing 850 watts or more but should be less than 1000. the sub never bottoms out on even the lowest of notes and it never gets distorted. it is getting a good clean signal no clipping that i can hear. gain on the amp is only about an 1/8 way up, ssf set at 25hz lpf set on 80hz. IS this smell normal during break in or am i gonna blow it. I been wangin on it hard for about a week now.

Yep just excess glue burning off the coil most likely, the smell should leave completely after a while.

thats what i was thinking. just to be on the safe side im gonna take it out the box and move the cone so i can see the coil and see the condition. but man this thing gets loud, i am very impressed. my wipers are actually dancing a little bit! front windshield flexes like mad. but i dont always listen to it that loud but i like to know that if i need it to get loud then its there!

As it breaks in and the suspension loosens up completely (as much as it's ever going to anyway) the output should get a bit better as well. No telling whether it will be a perceptible difference but it ought to happen nonetheless.
