15" XXX '05 Tinsel's Burned

Hey guys, I read here a lot but never post.. well my time has come.

I have a Power Acoustik 2300W @ 1 ohm amplifier hooked up to 1 15" XXX with 2 ohm DVC. I believe I have the '05 model. Anyways I had it installed by a local shop and I asked them to wire it to 1 ohm. I did all of this probably when I was 17 and I didn't know much about installing and decided this was the best way to go. I picked up the car and it sounded good (I really had little experience as to what 'good' sounds like). Recently I decided that I would check the wiring to see if it was done properly because I was looking to sell my car and put the sub/amp in the new car.

When I took the sub out of the box, I noticed that the shop simply ran two positive and two negative out of the terminal in the back of the box. Then these went straight to each voicecoil. I checked on the site and it was definitely not how the diagrams show to run 2 ohm DVC at 1 ohm. I also looked on the sub and see that after the connections to the sub, one of the negative wires going into the sub was burned. I think this is the tinsil wire, saw some in searches on the site.

First of all, I was wondering what impedence that would put the sub at. Secondly did I blow the sub by clipping it or was the wiring the cause? And lastly, what do you all recommend I do about the tinsil? I saw that manual replacement with a new tinsil wire, soldering iron, and some epoxy glue could work, but is there anyone who would do it for me, and how much would it cost?

Maybe a local shop could do it for you, its not really that hard if you have any sort of soldering skills, all you need is a steady a hand and some sort of soldering experience.

If the tensil is just burned as in a black mark, it shouldnt hurt the sub if it isnt burnt all the way through the wire or if the wire is frayed or melted.

It means that it in some way heated up enough to cause damage, check the gain on the amp.

the way it was wired is fine. correct at 1 ohm
Really? I just saw this picture

It was definitely not wired that way. Instead of going from positive to positive on the voice coils, there were two wires coming from the terminal in the box on the positive and then going to each coil. And the negative was the same way. If it was simply another way to wire at 1 ohm then that's fine, but I thought for sure that would give me a bad load (hence messing the signal and burning the tinsel).

its still the same, wired in parrallel. If you need some new tinsels let me know, I have a few laying around, and I will ship them to you, just for the cost of shipping, if you want to try to replace them yourself.

Ok so they were wired correctly, then how did I manage to burn up the tinsel? Anyways I'll contact you with a PM if I need those tinsels. Thanks a lot for the offer.
