I know,another Type R Enclosure Thread, but I need some clarification.Please help.

My suggestion would be to go with the design that the alpine reps gave you, I've always believed in building enclosures to suggested manufacturer specs. They are the experts and they do extensive testing before making their recommendations. A lot of people think they know what they are talking about telling you to go with a larger box with more cu. ft but where are their credentials. I'm an industry person and have been fortunate enough to see some of the alpine testing methods and believe me they use all kinds of high tech stuff to come up with those test. Their testing goes way beyond simple leap test, so my point is that I would build it according to the manufacturer specs.

Yeah that was my original thought as well. I have an enclosure drawn up with Alpines specs, but when I talked to one of the reps, he was saying to go bigger for my type of situation. The 1.7 cubic inch per sub is the optimal size if you want tha best SPL you can get outta them subs; however, by increasing the size of the chamber from 1.7 ta 2.0-2.2, the rep say's I'll see a big difference in the resonance and sound quality when hitting the lower notes. So since I'm not gonna enter any SPL comp's anytime soon, I feel I should go with my 4.4 cubic design and see how that works. Thanks so much to everyone that's helped me throughout this thread. I've already learned alot, and I haven't even built anything yet! haha I'll begin the project today hopefully, and will post up a pic once I'm finished...wish me luck!

Hey everyone. Just wanted ta say thanks again for the help. Here's a picture of my nearly finished 4.5 cubic inch enclosure...the difference from sealed to ported is like night and day. I'm very pleased with the results...

what tuning is that box you built?
IF I did everything right,which I'm 99% sure I did,then the box is tuned to 32Hz...

and do you have any videos
This is the best I can do for you. I hadda take it with my camera phone while at school...the volumes at 30/60, and the bass boost was at 25%.
