This is for my curiosity.I come from a generation when a 50watt amp sounded like

a monster!I came from the dawn of the car audio craze. In the early 80's Rockford

Fosgate is the one who started it all...I came into the picture just a few years

later.I come from an era when you got way more than you paid for.I remember

Rockfords punch series(45,75,150hd an non HD)and who can forget the power

series...the power 300,650,and 1000.You cant even beat the old power series

today.I also remember the sound quality. It was good clean raw power. There

were alot of other car audio Equipment Gods then besides Rockford.I came from

the era that set the road for USAC and IASCA.Now a days, the younger

generation hasnt a clue.I was born from a time when "its never enough".Always

striving to reach new levels.Ive changed systems SO MANY TIMES its not even

funny...All because I love music, sound and want to experience it all.Anyone else

here from this TIME ERA?I would love it if someone could just relate //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Im constantly trying new products and doing my own review.Sadly,I cannot try

everything...Im not rich LOL!But also,when I was competing,My spl was also

done with high frequency and not just low hz.I Example,I had 4 -10 inch subs

and 18 mids and highs in a rodeo and scored 141 on highs(not sure what

frequency was used) and 139 on the lows.Maybe it was done different then.I

remember going to shows and the the sounds that came from the vehicles were

phenominal! Not just a bunch of BASS or BUZZ SOUND for spl?It was a spectacular

sound crystal clear with air movement beyond imagining. The cars would sound

like a rolling thunder along with a symphony orchestra. You would feel the wind

BLOW 20ft from the vehicle easily with crisp sounds and no vibrating sounds. Not

like all these youtube videos you see.Its hard to explain unless your were from

this era."Sigh",they just dont make them like they used to anymore //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Hey revrider,I see you are from corpus christi!Im from Rockport about 20 minutes from you.I used to compete in corpus in the local soundoffs...back when absolute audio and video was still in business //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I've been competing since 1988........Started in IASCA 0-50 watt class.

I've still got a 1st Generation Orion 225HCCA and a 75x2 PPI Art in storage. Ran those and the Autotek 7050XX, which you can't find anywhere anymore, I'd love to get my hands on another one of those.

Yep, that was the pretty much the only place that held them. They are abselete now, kinda sucks. No comps around here anymore...

I started in the 86 to 90 era. I remember when 2 15's and 400 watts was insane. Hell I had an old Lanzer Opti 500 did 1000 rms at 4 ohms. It took 2 batteries and bigger alt to keep it from stalling my car. That was power. I still have a Rockford Power 650 I bought in 92. If I had a scanner I would show you guys some old systems I had. I had 12 12" Kicker comps, 6 15" Petras Prowlers, 6 " Petras Cardiacs, 8 12" Kicker Comps, and to many more to list. Loved those days.

For competing if all your car did was buzz at 60 hertz you were in last place, nobody gave a sh+t about that they wanted to sit in it and not breath and hear the music just as loud. Every car was judged on install, clarity, loudness and etc, not just a buzz. If you could not roll the strip with it then you did not bring it.

i feel your pain...lol....i remember when you could buy a rockford fosgate power 1000 brand new.....i was riding bicycles at that time,(i was like 14 or 15) but that time impacted my life forever......now i have a room full of precision power art series , m series , zed amps , old g+s amps made by ppi ....and dont forget the sansui amps made by ppi......i have way more than i can ever use.. i can say i am addicted to old school audio.......................i cant get enough....
