Featured A Blast from the past. How many of you remember Kove Audio?

I was digging through my car audio collection the other day because my wife was having one of those "Why do you keep this stuff" moments. And I found a brand spankin new Kove Audio ZX 1000. I can't remember how long I've had it but I remember buying it in the very late 90s early 2000s sometime. Anyone know what year this amp was built ? And what ever happened to Kove Audio? I also can't find anything on the ZX model with the glass bottom either. All the pics I've seen show the amp with a metal bottom. Their subs slammed hard back in the day and their amps were pretty damn good too. It's a shame that they aren't around anymore. IMG_20250313_201101157_HDR~2.jpg

The Kove Audio ZX 1000 amplifier was released in the late 1990s. Specific year data can vary, but it was popular in the late '90s to early 2000s period.

Kove Audio was known for producing quality amplifiers and subwoofers during its peak time, but the brand eventually faded away from mainstream markets. The reasons for this decline could include changes in ownership, market competition, and evolving audio technology.

Regarding the glass bottom you mentioned, it appears to be a rare version or perhaps a special edition, as most commonly seen models have a metal bottom. Collectors sometimes encounter variations for certain models, making them unique finds.

If you're considering using or installing your ZX 1000, it should still function well if kept in good condition! If you need specific technical assistance with the amp, feel free to ask.

what ever happened to Kove Audio?
Last time I searched for their subs, I found the brand sold to an overseas company that basically turned it into another Pride Audio competitor. I have 2 12" Armageddon Z Series subs; one I have had forever and the other was given to me by a user on this site. Awesome sub putting in work in a 1cu ft ported. Not very deep but the rest of the spectrum sounded great in that 1 cube.
That is an awesome looking amp. I have never heard one but from their reputation I assume it is on par with any ZED offering.

That old brand / version of Kove has been gone for a long time. They had some nice subs back in the day, not sure about the amps, but they looked decent. Cool to see an older new amp like that still around with its cardboard box.

I tried to find a match for my Z series Armageddon 15 for years but they are hard to find or people want an amount that isn’t worth it and I’d just buy a new sub at that point.

And figured I'd see if I could find anything on the old website to add to the trip back in time.

Wayback machine link from 2001, can browse a small amount. I could not get into the year 2000 to see what they had, so not sure if they had ZX series then.

Screenshots for those that won't click the link or if link doesn't work. Of the ZX amp page since that is the amp the thread is about. Not much info, but still cool to see the older stuff.

Wow this is amazing brother. I went back to the shop I bought it from. They are still around today. I still know the owner. I asked him about the ZX1000. It was a special model only given to authorized dealers to mount upside down to show the internals. It's was actually supposed to be 2 amps on the wall 1 of em mounted normal to show the top and this amp was to be mounted to show the insides. Only 1 per authorized dealer was given out so this amp is extremely rare. I asked him what happened to Kove and just like many car audio companies. He said they sold out the North American branch to the Chinese and it went down hill from there. Not sure how true that is but it sounds pretty accurate with car audio companies in those days. Huge thanks for the reply and the pics. I truly appreciate it

That is pretty cool info. Probably won't see many pop up with the clear acrylic bottom.
