Gain Setting Tutorial

Two DVC 4 ohm subwoofers combined to the same amplifier (mono block amp)=1ohm load
Ok, you said it confusing, when you say 1 sub is 1000 watts @ 1 ohm and the other sub is 1000watts @ 1 ohm that sounds like DVC 2 ohm to me. So yes sqrt of 2000x1 is right.

Okay, I have read about everyone of these things, and I still don't get it. What is the gain, and how do I set it. I have 2 Alpine Type R 12"s in a ported box with a Lanzar Vibe268 2000w amp. How the heck am I suppose to figure it out?

Not trying to be stupid. And to think, this comes from a Calculus student . . . . -_-

The gain is the little knob on the side of the amp that controls how much power the amp puts out. Lol, why would you think you'd know this because you're a calculus student?

just for the record of knowing what i know, is this correct?

2-chan amp that does 600w bridged @ 4 ohms...

2 12" A/D/S subs doin 500w rms / 1000 peak.

calculating it = 34.6v to that bridged channel? yay or nay?

thanks.

Sorry if this question has been asked before, but I didn't see it if it had.

My sub will take 150 RMS, but my amp pushes 200. So, to find the gain I need I'll need:

Sq.Rt. 150wt x 4ohm = around 24.5 volts?

Or is the only way to figure it by putting the amp RMS, not the desired RMS into the forumla?

from calculating it, looks good to me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Thanks for the conformation!

Can you work your gains without a DMM? I am doing my first install so I dont have any specific car audio materials, just the basic screwdrivers and stuff.

You can get one for ~15 dollars at any kind of hardware store. I wouldn't suggest setting it w/o one, especially if you are new to this.
