You can get one for ~15 dollars at any kind of hardware store. I wouldn't suggest setting it w/o one, especially if you are new to this.

looks jsut like mine only my plugs are in a row across the bottom. as logn as its accurate and if its new it should be it will work to set your gains

that is the voltage your speaker terminals, on the amp, should read

So

1. I need to buy a voltage reader.

2. I stick the reader where the speaker wire meets the amp

3. And I should get that number

If this process is correct let me know. ANd if the number does not match the reading I am getting from the amp. WHat to do?

I'm sure that DMM would be fine for what you will use it for. It is not something that is made to last (unlike fluke, uei, fieldpiece) but for your use the one in that package is all you'll need.
