First sub is chain is burning bad

Ok so I've been running 14 gauge speaker wire since I got these subs and I noticed that the bolt terminals that go to the amp were getting hot so I got 8 gauge. I used the 8 gauge to wire the bolt terminals to the amp and then I wired MOST of the subs together with it. Before I explain, this is how I have them wired:

Now, I ran out of wire so I have 1 of each of the 2 VC's on each sub wired together with the 8 gauge and then I have all the positive terminals on each VC wired together with the 8 gauge. All the negatives are still 14 gauge.

Now I went and played the subs and very quickly I smelled something. I stopped to check what I burned up and I felt all the subs and only one was hot at all (but very hot). This sub is the first sub in the chain of subs. It's the first one that the amp's power hits.

I'm thinking that the sub is getting hot because the negative going from that sub to the next is still 14 gauge and the heat that WAS on the bolt terminals is now going to that negative on the voice coil.

I'm thinking I should just put the 14 gauge back on going to the amp and let the bolts take the beating until I get more 8 gauge. What do you think?

I think you are clipping the hell out of it. You 14awg is not long enough to harm anything if you are using good cable.
No dude I'm not clipping! The clipping light was not on and the amp wasn't hot! And why would only one sub get hot?

Yes it's Taramps. The run from my amp to the terminals is about 7 feet and that's now 8 gauge Karma SS OFC so it should be good. Only thing that is 14 gauge is the negatives connecting each sub to eachother

Man where in Louisiana are you? if youre close enough ill be happy to lend a hand with it
Norco. about 2 hours away from you.

I noticed the 14 gauge that was in the negative only had like half of it's strands so I stripped some more of the sleeve and shoved a whole ton of the wire in the terminal. It's way better now but I don't know if it's completely gone. I think I'm louder though lol.

Is it bad that I have the subs wired like this? To eachother?

My friend is saying to wire each of them to the bolt terminals instead of chaining them
Sharing the wire on each voice coil that you currently are is causing unstable ohm loads!!!!

Theres a reason each set of pos & neg need a seperate wire.

You messed up the configuration with the last sub your sharing the wires with.
