Ok so I've been running 14 gauge speaker wire since I got these subs and I noticed that the bolt terminals that go to the amp were getting hot so I got 8 gauge. I used the 8 gauge to wire the bolt terminals to the amp and then I wired MOST of the subs together with it. Before I explain, this is how I have them wired: http://mediacdn.shopatron.com/media/mfg/9013/media_image/dev_1/DVC_Series_Parallel_4.png?1314416194 Now, I ran out of wire so I have 1 of each of the 2 VC's on each sub wired together with the 8 gauge and then I have all the positive terminals on each VC wired together with the 8 gauge. All the negatives are still 14 gauge. Now I went and played the subs and very quickly I smelled something. I stopped to check what I burned up and I felt all the subs and only one was hot at all (but very hot). This sub is the first sub in the chain of subs. It's the first one that the amp's power hits. I'm thinking that the sub is getting hot because the negative going from that sub to the next is still 14 gauge and the heat that WAS on the bolt terminals is now going to that negative on the voice coil. imgur: the simple image sharer I'm thinking I should just put the 14 gauge back on going to the amp and let the bolts take the beating until I get more 8 gauge. What do you think?
