Dediated sub for 15-30hz?

all of the subs i have ran i preferred sealed boxes except my L7. I ran my IDQv2 15"/IDQv3 10"/JL 12w6v2/fi q 10" all in both sealed and ported boxes. The ported boxes were louder with rap songs, but if i threw in dave matthews i was almost as if i had no sub listening to carter beauford on the drums.... i hated it with a passion. I put them in sealed boxes and it was a very well rounded sound with the rap and hit the drum beats like it should of.... I will always go sealed over ported in my daily driver. The L7 just had no SQ and couldnt keep up ported, but i didnt like it sealed. It was only meant to get loud so i could impress people when i was what...15 years old.

edit: sorry i re-read this and it is way off topic. I like the output below 30hz better sealed, anything above that, if looking for output i would go sealed no matter what. i had some super nice door flex with my single 12w6v2 ported.

If you want output below 30hz and don't want to go with a large sealed or IB setup, a transmission line would probably fit you well. The only issue with that is space. My single 12 takes up about 5 cubes gross in a transmission line but it plays flat from 15-65hz with a +4dB peak right at 22hz. Smooth response on all types of music and can keep up with anything. It also has a nice midbass kick around 80hz too.

RE MT tuned to -8 hz.
hahah i cant tell if this is sarcasm or what cuz -8 hz isnt possible......id love to see -8cycles per second

but the again there is also no reason to have a sub dedicated from 15-35hz

play get low that hit is 30hz iirc and that is much lower then most tones you hear in regular music anyway

get this guy a XXX15 in a 4.5cube 30hz tuned box and i gurantee its enough ow end for him

sealed boxes do not get as low as vented:fyi:
incorrect, thanks for the clarification taxi, been gone a few blinks and when i return the forums gone madd

pretty much, no need to waste the extra time money effort and space, most songs don't get much lower than 40hz, trust me i know, i do audio mastering as a profession

how about (2x) 15 RE XXX, 9 cu ft^3 @ 34hz, 130sq in port, gets plenty low

Even 40Hz is rare.

Depends what you consider "low."
Play Bass I Love You in a ported box and see how loud those ~5hz and ~10hz notes are.
FYI......You can't hear freqs that low, they only rattle the **** out of things. Plenty of movie soundtracks have material that low, but you don't hear it. You and your house feel it though if you have a sub(s) capable of getting that low.

Punch that hits you in the chest is higher then 30Hz. Play "Nothing But A Good Time" by Poison, it has LOTS of kick bass punch //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

thanks DB, that definitely helps swallowing a $300 price tag 😂 these would essentially be running midbass for me too
