Can a sub be damaged because box too big?

I didn't think it would sound good with an oversized box. I was just asking if my sub can be damaged if the box was too big

Take the sleeping bag out and run it. U will not damage your woofer by to big of a box... Think of free airing your woofer it's like being in a 2746647cube box. Just don't play out of the subwoofer limits and it will be fine..

IB is completely different than a sub box with a port and a giant hole for another sub in it.

Actually, your wrong. It can either shorten or something else I can't think of atm, the rms wouldn't be as great as in a proper box. Might sound diff but still....

Sounds like your wrong. I run woofers in huge boxes all the time. In my last wall I had two 18s in 22cubes on a 8k at .5ohm... They loved that big box. I didn't shorten or something you can't think of. What are u even talking about. Why do you think everyone builds there walls as big as you can? Space makes bass homie. Put your sundown x 15s in a 8cube box and then put them in a 14cube box and tell me which one you like more? I bet you pick big box

So if I was to pull my 21 out of its 8.4 net box and build a bigger box say 15 net. It would be louder & play the same on 3K no issues ??? Or let's say just double the box. 16.8 net with about 250 sqin port.

Well. Looks like a challenge to me. I'll meter the box it's in now. And build another box at work.
