At a crossroads on which sub to buy now that my IDQ's are done.

Yeah, doubtful on the 162..

Just go big and be done with it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

That is the picture he sent me last week and said today he has got it up to a 152

I have no idea if he did or not, I just re-said what he told me. I know nothing at all, in any way shape or form about SPL or what sub will hit. My whole audio life around 30 years has always been about SQ Also it was a typo and should have read 152 but I wouldn't know if that mattered. He could have said he made an earthquake hit texas and I wouldn't have known better, so I'm not about to argue it, that is why I post here asking for advice on things.

I have 1 SA-15 sundown in a 32-hrz box wired to 2-Ohm's on a 1200.1 ID amp in my truck that I just added a few hours ago and to me it is pretty loud, not quite use to the spl age but it has made me begin to crave more.

152 is more believable...I did a 154 on 2 18's so with the right setup he definitely could have done that. SPL is more fun to me than SQ //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Id run two Squbed HDS312s @32 htz on approx 3k:yumyum:

I just Pmed my friend to make sure of what he had said. He was telling me he hit the 147 with a incriminator amp, that is the amp he is wanting to sell me with the 18's sub's, Since then he has added a 2500.1 Cresendo amp (that he is keeping) and has now hit a 152 with them. if that doesn't sound right, I wouldn't know but that is what I was told. Thanks for all of the advice guys.

Sounds about right.. So are you planning on upgrading your alt since you're getting into the SPL game now? If you have room for another SA-15, you can fully utilize your amp at 1 ohm to get the most power out of it. Then build the most efficient box you can (which will require a good amount of space) and you should be good to go without having to upgrade your alt.

OK, I'll take your advice. I had never heard of Sound Cubed but the HDS312's are only $149.00 each. Sure I'll try them, at that price with as many people as I've heard say go that route, going to order a pair tonight. Now to find an amp that will do them right, do you think it would be better to keep my ID 1200.1 on one sub and buy another amp for the other or just get another amp all together? Thanks for your time and help.

Guess I'll need to upgrade the Alt too. there are way to many choices to consider, after looking at subs tonight and that isn't even looking at Amp's, Alt's and batteries.

I guess I'm going to buy the hds312 Sound cubed subs, or would one more SA-15 be as loud or close without over loading my electrical? Guess I'm going to need to buy a upgraded Alt. I may be to old to begin SPL lol.

The HDS312's are a good choice. Will definitely be louder than 2 SA-15's if under the right conditions. The only reason I suggested to get another SA-15 is because of cost. You already have one and adding another will still allow you to keep your current amp while running at 1 ohm. You can keep your electrical stock to save the most money possible while still being decently loud. Because if you go with the HDS's, the subs are cheap yes.. But the extra cost of upgrading alt, batts, and amp is a huge cost. Something to think about before you pull the trigger. If you want the most bang for your buck, consider getting an 18" if your space allows. Did you measure what your max dimensions are yet?

Get a nice SQL driver... Ssa icons would sound great, but it really depends on the install. I have nsv3 and everyone thinks they just play lows lows but not the case, whenever I give demos people are amazed at how good they sound. I've played with some ID woofers(older ones) and they just don't hold a candle to today's woofer.
Go with an 18" SSA Xcon, pretty good SQL driver. You can ALWAYS lower the sub level for SQ purposes.
Both great suggestions. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Thanks for the reply and help. As far as room I have the whole back of a quad cab Dodge 1500 to work with, the back seat has been pulled. A friend of mine has the same truck and although it is close he has two 18" CT Sound subs inside it so I do have the room for 1-18" Sub.

So many choices, I keep second guessing. I need to just make my mind up and order the stuff. That is my trouble though, Been out of the game and hav not kept up with things and don't know enough to make a solid choice. The one SA-15 is not a big deal, I can give it to my son or just set it up, I only gave the guy $100 for it and it is in solid shape. So I can go two HDS312's or another Sundown SA-15 or I can do 1 18" Xcon or something like that.

1 18" Xcon would be badazz:suave: I would choose that over your other two options. I'm sure it'll be plenty loud for you and you'll sound really good while doing so.

Id most deff run the pair of SQubed HDS312s DVC4 ohm in approx 4-5 cuft @32 -36 htz,and would consider running a single amp rather than trying to gain match with two amps,or strapping might be much better, but I see that the ID1200 are in the price range of 700$plus now rather than less than 300$ that Sonic has now discontinued, and would be cheaper to buy and easier to run a single mono amp.You might take a look at the Taramps HD3000 for the money? To really get your moneys worth, and place some real power on those subs to really perform..If you want to go even deeper, you could do 4.-HDS212s, or 312s DVC2 ohm in 8-10 cuft or design a wall and really slamm on that same amp?

I'd vote for the single 18" X-Con. The HDS build quality has me a little worried (though the HDCs are quite good for the money). Unless you want to start getting into expensive electrical upgrades a higher end single 18 should be PLENTY and those X-Cons are well built and can be made to sound very nice and "blend" well with the rest of your things if you just use a remote gain knob when you don't want to be obnoxious. Do a BIG box and single 18. If you want to go full retard, get a 21" Incriminator (I think there's one in the classifieds here for a fair price). 21" round woofer has some "wow factor".

IDK much about the CT subs, but that company has done some awfully shady stuff and their amps have proven to like to catch on fire. Sundown, SSA or Incriminator will be around in 5 years if you need to repair a sub, CT sounds I wouldn't bet on it.

Honorable mention for the JBL wGTI subs. They're a very well regarded SQ sub that can take some power and get loud, as is the JL W7 (though MSRP is absurd).
