Any tips on buying a RC car?

i own a revo and it breaks lol a 1/8 scale losi vehicle is at least 2 times as tough out of the box. i have seen muggies and lst2's jump huge jumps and totally tank on the landing and barrel roll for 40 feet and drive away.....my revo couldnt do that out of the box very often...hell the universal joints in them are plastic that are held together with e-clipped pins. my mugen i raced an entire season going over larger jumps hitting a light pole in mid flight, barral rolled it and never broke a single part out side of 2 shock ends that were from going into a wall on a large oval at full speed.
1/8 scale losi? and Mugen?

They are out of his price range. Not comparable...

Revo is 1/8th?

I've owned Traxass truggies, buggies and road cars... they are more durable to their comparable competition.. FACT.

oh and you can't compare crashes. too many factors in place.

revo might as well be 1/8th since on that model they made the 3.3 bigger. my revo when it broke didnt crash it just broke squeezing the throttle doing a donut there would be far less to upgrade on the losi....losi comes with a center diff so it will turn alot better, comes with a better radio that has epa on both channels. reason why the revo has so many up grade parts is because it needs them. out on the race track here they run revo's against truggies and lst 2's and they get smoked because they handle worse (lst2 isnt really fair because al had his there lol) and break. more also traxass doesnt make a truggy they make monster trucks. i can compare crashes when it is 100+ vs 2 or 3 LOL. i have a revo sitting here that is sitting broken for over a year (needs a new reverse lockout and new universals in the back with under 1 gallon of fuel ran through it. everything it was ran on was flat yard space , a stone drive way and pavement. my mugen has over 5 gallons on it still has less drive train slop in it as the revo did new and over that time in hop ups and maintenance i have less money in the mugen than i do the revo after costs of the intial purchase. replacement traxxas parts arent cheap...1 way bearing 29.00, improved 1 servo servo saver 20.00, new universals 15, plastic spur gears 9 (ate 1 have 2 replacements) clutch plate 8 bucks (the origial cracked) not to mention the plastic drive train in them is an abomination and is far more complex and less durable than a regular truggy....all in the name of possibly going into reverse? LOL

oh and on the price

a main actually sells the muggy for less RTR by 20 bucks

Read a lil bit last few min....some say use diff glow plugs or better ones, diff fuels and all
And break-in procedures.....did any of yall do them?

So what parts that are stock or come with the REVO should i replace or buy other right off the bat?

Soooo crucial with those little motors. Just follow the steps in the manual, and follow them to the t.

You'll be fine off the bat, they come ready to rip outta the box. Just get some fuel, extra glow plugs, batts, and break the ***** in and then let er' rip //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I would suggest brushless electric with Lithium Polymer batteries, more speed and power than nitro but with little to no maintenance! Thats just me...
i agree to a point but there is something to be said about nitro...i will be the first to admit also at times i dont like to deal with nitro but there is NOTHING that beats the sound of them. to watch an electric run verse a nitro isnt that great except you dont choke on nitro fumes

That shit gets sooo nasty. Especially when your tuning, I remember just poppin the body off to make adjustments and getting choked out terribly. Eyes water, cant see/breath. I miss that smell though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

i hate to thread dump, but I have a highly modified HPI Savage (roll cage, XTM 247, and more), stock Team Associated T3, and stock Traxxas Electric Stampede with lots of extras (batteries, chargers, servos, etc) I'd like to get rid of. All at once would be best. I loved the RC hobby, but now I work two jobs and go to college, just don't have time for any more hobbies than girls right now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif any offers?

The best bet is to go see the local hobby shop and ask questions. Also find a local rc race track and talk to the racers. Most will help you out no problem.

i got a lil revo for sale, has FOC ******, wing kit, single servo conversion, allum skid plate, lightweight servomount $250 +shipping. Also got a .26 picco engine to drop in it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif They are fun and dont break as much as t-maxx's, iv got both. Electrics fun to, but nothing better than the smell of nitro in ur face LOL. Runs Great!

I've got a RC10GT with a OS.18TZ Turbo for sale $150 plus shipping....

This is a hella good deal, just the motor alone sales for $160-$200. I have everything that you need to run this bad boy, even the started box.

This RC10GT is screaming fast about 60-75 m.p.h!! It has a Blue alluminum chasis with RPM arms all around. High compression on motor with a polished and tuned pipe. Right now I'm using some aftermarket black wheels with MOAB tires and for street I use a set of road hawg's. I've got many aftermarket parts in thie bad boy to make sure it can handle the power. The motor is till pretty fresh only about a gallon of fuel has ran through it. My favorite mod is the indestrucible homemade cage out of 3/16 steel.

I've raced my buddy's Honda CBR600RR crotch rocket and I can take him from off the line all the way up to my top speed. Hella funny seeing a lil RC car own a badass bike.
