Any tips on buying a RC car?

ha...that Revo 3.3 says 45+ mph...thats prolly faster than ill ever need

Its still in the lead....i dont like those lil cart looking ones....just looks like they gonna snap in half

Anything else i should buy later on if i get that Revo 3.3?

yes, I race with Al... and that little $hit Dakotah.. ever race him?? Kid is like 10 and has a full losi ride..

Never been to stateline, but know a bunch of guys that go out there. Al has his own indoor track now.

NO Traxxas..get a monster truck..savage, LST2..etc something big and durable because you dont want something that will turn you away from the hobby the first time around.

There is kid on this forum selling anitro RC car for $50 it just needs a new clutch spring or something, I would search for this and check it out.
The thing is just going into it I would not suggest getting a car that is torn apart, getting a kit where you know everything is included it one thing but that thing sounds like a box of parts coming to your door.

If you want an RC10GT get one and buy that one for parts you will need them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

no offense to anyone on here selling a car, but if I buy a used nitro vehicle, I almost always budget in a new engine. They can be pretty challenging to some when it comes to tuning, and you can pretty much ruin one in a couple tanks if they arent tuned correctly.
Why couldn't he just tune it after he bought it?

dude DONT DONT DONT buy a S Maxx you WILL NOT like having a RWD MT!!!!! It will steer like crap, and youll roast through tires like no tomorrow!
I don't know i like RWD only, I have two T_Maxx's and converted one to RWD only, kind of fun whiping the *** around and adds another level of difficulty to playing with them IMO.

I would do the same thing you would do here if you were looking to get into car audio for the beginning the first time. Go to http://www.rcnitrotalk.com and just read read read for a few weeks you will get a much better idea of what way you want to go.

yup i have raced with dakotah he usually puts a lap on me in stock...LOL but he is a national champion. i usually run in the factory tracks series (when they go to summit and stateline) i usually run at stateline though. last year they had some really big quads that was over 32'from first crest to last crest and your vehicle would be 15' plus in the air. i could clear the whole thing but when my buggy would go 35' it would chassis slap hard on the track bent the rear screw on the rear chassis brace lol. i tried to get it to down side the last hill and had a helll of a time trying that so i went tripple single. its a good time out there and they actually have a regional rc pro series race this summer. http://www.statelinerc.com/

Hey man if your interested in buying a used Revo or T-Maxx my buddy has a total of 6 or 7 trucks and he was tryin to get rid of a couple. He babies them like crazy, hes a finatic and Im sure he has everything you would need to have a ready-to-run setup. PM me if your interested and Ill give him a call for you.

Read a lil bit last few min....some say use diff glow plugs or better ones, diff fuels and all

And break-in procedures.....did any of yall do them?

So what parts that are stock or come with the REVO should i replace or buy other right off the bat?

The reason why we are suggesting Traxxass is because it will come pre-built with ALMOST everything you need.

It is VERY durable.

Parts are extremely easy to find locally and on the net.

The cars have A LOT of support from users and Traxxass itself.

They are FAST and FUN!

Sure a Team Losi or Team Associated might be "better" but he will have to deal with maintenance and easier to break parts.. prolly a higher price even...

All of the brands have RTR options sooo it doesn't matter which brand he goes with..

Team Associated, HPI, Team Losi are very well supported and have RTR gas and electric options..

Out of the box you won't need to upgrade anything if you bought a REVO..

You COULD upgrade the hell out of it tho.. radio and receiver... Titanium A-arms is popular.. High torque metal gear servos.. rechargable receiver pack.. etc..

Never buy used r/c unless it is from someone that wins races :p not a backyard basher.. start new..

the radio in traxxas vehicles pretty well bite as do all the servos.....they have 2 to steer it where as one good one costs about 75-100. you get something like a Losi Muggy you just take the metal gear servo it has on the steering move it to throtle and brake and get a high torque steering metal gear servo and be done with it as it comes with a better by far radio system. a quality radio would cost about another 120 ish or more on top of the servoes for the revo. in the long run it will cost more nd probably perform worse than the losi. my revo always breaks drive pins in the universal joints and stupid things like that where as i doubt you would run into that with the muggy. the muggy also has a flat chassis pan that makes it alot easier to work on.http://www.losi.com/Products/ProductGallery.aspx?ProdID=LOSB0018 look at the link for info. the suspension has less moving parts and needless to say it has much larger big bore shocks than the revo. the muggy has a hand held starter where as the revo lugs around its electric start motor when it runs and has pothential for the one way bearing to go out.http://www.amainhobbies.com/index.php/cPath/1_44_50 the muggy is under 500 bones too

NOBODY would ever suggest a Traxxass.

i own a revo and it breaks lol a 1/8 scale losi vehicle is at least 2 times as tough out of the box. i have seen muggies and lst2's jump huge jumps and totally tank on the landing and barrel roll for 40 feet and drive away.....my revo couldnt do that out of the box very often...hell the universal joints in them are plastic that are held together with e-clipped pins. my mugen i raced an entire season going over larger jumps hitting a light pole in mid flight, barral rolled it and never broke a single part out side of 2 shock ends that were from going into a wall on a large oval at full speed.
