Any tips on buying a RC car?

You have batts for the controller, and on the truck but stock the truck probably has a double a pack. But there should be a "Easy Start" controller thingy that plugs into the back and it turns the motor over.
Yehh so is that what uses the 7.2 batt packk.....i still havent read:(

No....should i?
Guy says follow the book....says like 1/4 throttle for first tank, 1/2 next....etc

Like 5 tanks it says.....think i should buy more glow plugs for that?
for warranties sake i would follow the book. i just read my manual which has a disclaimer in it. i had my revo though before my other nitro buggies and broke it in by the book. as you get more into it and if you run with guys at the local shop they can show you a few tricks or two about tuning. gotta be carefull though my old man about set us on fire with the heat gun before yappin at a guy at the track about football and pointing the heat gun at my fuel bottle LOL so i would just get used to stuff first

There is a lot of misinformation here... The EZ-Start will heat the glow plug, the Revo has a rechargeable pack for the truck (for servos), temp gun is good the prevent overheating the engine but you should tune for performance (acquired with time).

OP,

You need to read the directions a couple times and watch the tuning DVD a couple of times as well. Maybe you can have someone with experience help you during break-in.

1) Exactly

2) I think thats the whole point of "tuning" any motor, your not "tuning" to decrease performance? The problem with tuning is people tend to tune too lean resulting in better performance but then the motor runs far too hot.

With a heat gun you can monitor the temperature of the engine while tuning to get the best performance possible out of it. Otherwise you have no idea what temperature your running the motor at and can severely damage it if you overheat it.

These tiny little motors are sooo touchy. A small change in temperature, or even elevation can drastically affect the tune....
