Any tips on buying a RC car?

I havent the slightest idea where to start.....i know if i go in a hobby shop they just gonna shoot me some BS on something they had in stock for years and cant get rid of and tell me its the best
I want like a off road truck to mess around in dirt and grass, doesnt need to be ridiculoudly fast, but can be //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

And than what kinda parts should i buy that would benefit on what i want to do or make it better or more reliable?

Clueless here....any help? All in one kit to buy? Brand? Type?

Thanks for any help...oh and budget maybe around 300-500 if i can get a decent one around there
i got 1 of these for a friends son as a present, the thing is insane, he uses it all the time and hasnt broken it yet. it pulls wheelies straight outa da box and with upgrades is almsot undriveable as the power to weight ratio is redic.

my advice is to go to your local hobby store (lhs) see what brands they carry. If you buy a kit make sure they carry replacement/hopup parts. I guarantee you will break something and its easier to have a local supplier.

btw tmaxx is ultra popular and most hobby stores have parts for em. HPI is another popular brand that most stores carry

There is kid on this forum selling anitro RC car for $50 it just needs a new clutch spring or something, I would search for this and check it out.

I have owned 2 T-Maxx's. They are a lot of fun.

nitro is a little more work, but worth it!!!

t maxx s ok. Lots of hop ups out there for it.. BUT resist the urge to use aluminum parts. They cause more trouble than they are worth. If going Nitro, traxxas is a good place to start, but go with the 3.3 over the classic. Even better, check out the Revo. More agile, easier to drive because it has a much lower center of gravity. And you can beat the crap out ofthem. the Revo needs almost nothing out of the box.

do you want nitro or electric? there is alot to choose from i currently race 1/10 electric with an associated T4 and 1/8th nitro with a mugen seiki mbx5R
I wouldnt have the foggiest.....it nothing ill take serious...just take it to my yard on Sat and tear *** in the sand and dirt

But id like to buy something good to brag haha....jk....id say nitro...sounds meaner to me

Like id like to buy something new now...and learn with that than later on be able to mod it up to something i can messup even more

Prolly makes no sense but thats bout all i can say

no offense to anyone on here selling a car, but if I buy a used nitro vehicle, I almost always budget in a new engine. They can be pretty challenging to some when it comes to tuning, and you can pretty much ruin one in a couple tanks if they arent tuned correctly.

An easier option is find a ready to run (r-t-r) kit. THose are usually prebuilt but you have to buy a few things still such as;

-lexan paint to colour the body

-nitro fuel

-fuel container

-batteries for receiver and transmitter

-glow plug + charger

nitro gets a lil ditry, but its fun to run. Its also loud so make sure u run it away from residential areas

and i would definitely go with nitro...i used to have all kinds of electric cars when i was younger, once i went nitro i never looked back. to me it was a ton funner, and it was hella fun tweeking on a tiny little engine..

with the brushless motors now in electric and lipo cells they can run faster than their nitro counter parts ..thing is 10 scale electrics arent as durable... Amain carries alot of parts as well. the ofna hyper8 RTR is a good buy as well as the jammin RTR.

just know when you buy an RTR nitro vehicle the first thing that pops on them is usually the steering servo.

dont go with electric!!! i stopped using my rc car cuase of the batt. too lazy always draining the each individual cell and recharging them. takes forever! just start with nitro. batt powered doesnt get full power until empty, it graudally gets slower and slower

sweeeett...got a lot of info here

Im looking at either that Revo...or the S-Maxx...seems it would be a lil fun with rwd....but than again....more out of control ha

Or that T-Maxx.....not offending people....but it would def. prolly be Traxxas

Thanks again, more comments the better

I def. want something i can just fuel up and run, i dont wanna paint nothing or have to put nothin together the first day
