Any tips on buying a RC car?

I havent the slightest idea where to start.....i know if i go in a hobby shop they just gonna shoot me some BS on something they had in stock for years and cant get rid of and tell me its the best

I want like a off road truck to mess around in dirt and grass, doesnt need to be ridiculoudly fast, but can be //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

And than what kinda parts should i buy that would benefit on what i want to do or make it better or more reliable?

Clueless here....any help? All in one kit to buy? Brand? Type?

Thanks for any help...oh and budget maybe around 300-500 if i can get a decent one around there

i started with the 2000 model.

this one is a little faster and has better handling of course but this is good for begginers or just to mess around with.

cheap car and cheap parts if you break it. and easy to maintain and fix.

Go to your local hobby shop and see what they carry parts for. When you break it (and you will) you are not going to want to wait for parts. Are you looking for Nitro or Electric.. Race or bash.. Monster truck, buggy or on road?? If a noob in RC, then I would say electric to begin with.

If you are looking to buy a car/truck on line http://www.ultimatehobbies.com usually has the best deals out there.

There is kid on this forum selling anitro RC car for $50 it just needs a new clutch spring or something, I would search for this and check it out.
