Am I pushing my sub too hard?? *Vid*

The answer seems obvious

I would try to get some more output from it so I turned up my bass boost and it started to make that noise again!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif :furious: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif
How about you just let Tuan set up your system right. It sounds like you're expecting too much from it and keep blowing 'em wth a clipped signal from the amp when you turn up bass boost.

didnt really read the post(sorry), but I know on the L7's they have a cone support, and i had the same sound comming from them as your sub. not sure if that sub is the same... check under it to see if anything parts came unepoxied

Well, I went to see Tuan yesterday he heard the sub and said it was a funky *** noise.
Swapped me another 10" hooked it up without the box and it sounded fine. In the morning I put it back in the box hooked it up sounded normal and I thought I would try to get some more output from it so I turned up my bass boost and it started to make that noise again!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif :furious: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

It is not as bad as the first one but it is still there. What should I do? Just **** it up and keep it or Keep bothering Tuan about it (it was a real hassle the first time because he is a really busy guy)

So frustrating!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif :crying:

EDIT: My gains are a little over half way up and my bass boost is at half too. I really wanna bump this sucker but I'm afraid that noise is gonna damage something.
Just get a completely different woofer at this point.

Well.. the amp pushed my w7 with no problems and it did not make wierd noises. I'm going to check for loose parts this weekend and I'm also gonna give the wire some cushion cuz maybe this one is hitting the cone.

Even if I was pushing the sub too hard it would have distortion not some wierd noise that sounds like its hitting something.

If all goes bad I'm going to have to sell the sub for dirt cheap and use the 15in CVR that flakko sold me for now.

Do you guys think I may be underpowering it?

You need to take bass boost off completely, I hate it. A lot of the time it creates distortion on your sub (it did on my 9500) so I just bought a line driver which let me drop the gains and have no bass boost. My sub got much much louder (more flat response) and sounded better, I had no issues with my spyder coming up after that.

Here is the real question............WHY THE HELL DID YOU GIVE UP A W7 FOR THAT THING????

Found a sucker to buy it for alot more then i payed for. The sub is not even creating distortion it is clean bass besides the noise that sounds like something is hiting it.

The only thing you should have gained was dropping the gains. Everything else should not have happened unless you have a problem somewhere else... or it's just psychoacousitics.

DAM I think I found the problem. It plays perfectly and louder in my room playing off of my home theater reciever and does not make that noise. I am now assuming that it is my amp, but how come my W7 didn't make that wierd noise when I used it on my w7? And I tested my Alpine type-s with this amp and it doesn't make that noise either.

EDIT: I think the sub made that noise because it was being underpowered? I remember when someone tested my w7 with a performance technique amp it made that same noise too, but it sounded fine with my amp. Could this be the problem?

my guess would be the blueprint 1003's he got recently. They have a 4 spoke basket instead of the 12 spoke though and the dustcap seems different.

is their felt under the tinsels ont he cone? if not... get some felt //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

and the thermal rating is 1000 watts rms

I want an e cookie.

Sorry mrsector I'm all out of e cookies //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

Yea, these subs don't get loud but they have great SQ, even my Type-S gets louder then the 10".
