'61 Impala ragtop Build

Well I started wiring today from Fremont to back. I ran 3 sets of 6000 series stinger interconnects down the drivers side along with runs of 16awg knu kord speaker wire. On the passenger side I ran the 0/1 wag knu kolos sis fleks kable, remote wire and the signal wires for the Audison sub volume remote. Here are some pics

Well due to weather and busy work life I haven't got a lot done lately. I did however get all the 3/4 MDF cut for my enclosure yesterday. I am hoping to get it all put together in the next day or so....

Well I got my enclosure partially built today until i got to the decider/brace, Its not cut yet cause I thought it would be better to measure for it with the box built other than the top so it would be more accurate. and I don't think my neighbours will appreciate me firing up a skill or table saw at 10 pm in a townhouse lol. anyway here are some pics of the progress....

And one of what it will look like completed. I plan to wrap it in vinyl and either make trim panels for the sides with routered detail or just make a panel that covers the whole top of it with a front trim panel so the box is completely hidden while looking from the inside of the car when the roof is up. as well as maybe a second battery and the wiring beside it under the panel.

Well the box is built, wired with tech flex, and JL 10TW3's installed with Tee Nuts and cap head socket machine screws. It has been a slow process but worth doing it right! tonight I am deadening the box area with Knukonceptz Kno Knoise Kolossus deadener and bolting in the box.

Next up is planning out my amp rack layout.

Here is a pic of the mounting for the box. I used a 3/8's bolt up through the floor into a threaded insert that I put in the box. The rear of the box will be held in by the amp rack, even though as is it is rock solid in there.

Well I got it all wired and hooked up the other day finally!! It will need a tune for sure and a TON of CLD to control the rattles lol. I have to admit I am not all that happy with the bass but hopefully that will change with a tune. I am planning to add a bit Ten D to it as well as the Mosconi amas2 bluetooth module so I can run my whole system off my iPhone.

Pyromaniac4food, I will have to get it tuned first as I don't consider it to be hitting very hard at all in the bass department. The front stage on the other hand......WOW that shits clear and crisp!! With my old low power alpine at 80w X 2 running passive to the front the 6.5's were flexing a fair bit. with the Voce 5.1k amp i can't even see them moving!!
