5k watt build decisions - seeking help

imo stick to a single 5k for now wired to 1 ohm

you are looking for a nice daily driver setup and not competing. you really dont need to worry about actual power going to the subs as much. it is important but i think it would be better walk rather than run.

you could always run the 5k now and when you want to run more or bigger subs upgrade to a 12k or something like it.

will an 8k be louder than a 5k? yeah but there are so many other things that can make or break a good build besides power.

you said you have 15.5cf is that internal or external dimensions?

if you post your max measurements you have we may be able to steer you in the right direction.

also it would be nice to know a concrete max budget for woofers/amps.

and if you start upping power you will need to get the larger alts, batteries, and more wire. it adds up very quick.

also the HCCA is a great sub but it has its weak points. I do love the way they look but besides that they are pretty far down on woofers i would use. not to mention many of the "good" woofers have very similar excursion capabilities.

You're right, I'm looking for a nice daily. I'm getting pretty caught up in the specs and numbers but that's just cause I care about how well everything works together. I want everything as best matched and accurate as I can get.

I would gladly run 5k now but I'm being told by the time that 5k reaches my woofers it's actually way less, so I'd like to get whatever amp that can truly run my subs at an output of 5k watts. I want a real world output of 5k. Not just a 1 ohm spec on my amp's manual I guess you could say.

I'd say no more than $1,200 for amp. No more than $1,200 for both subs. So basically keep this below $2,500.. I can spend less in one category and more in the other I guess. But I'd like to stay around that margin. I'm looking at no more than 8k in my entire SUBWOOFER build, but I'm not entirely sure how realistic that is as I don't know every little thing required just the basics, and the goodies I'd be throwing in like volt meter and good high fidelity HU with good EQ.

I'd rather over-do my eletrical than slack on it. I want a very reliable set up. Something that won't cause any problems. Last spring I was making measurements for a 15 cube internal volume box for a 24" sub. Sealed enclosure. That's how I know I can at least fit a 15 cubic ft enclosure behind me. I'm also okay with walling, like an infinite baffle application. That's what the 24" is made for.

If you are running a 5k at 1 ohm, there is no reason for you to buy 2500 rms subs. Hence why the ssa Xcon 18 or zv5s (B stock)would be more suited for that kind of power. You'll get the excursion you want compared to bigger subs being barely tickled and barely wiggling.

For an amp, the best one for the money right now is a vital power 700.1 Literally destroys amps that cast 1.5x as much in terms of quality, reliablity, power output, heat management etc... No sense in paying the same amount of money for an inferior 5k amp. With more power you can just lower the gain and never worry about putting out dirty power to your subs. I'd always get more power than needed to avoid any sort of dirty signal issues. Especially if you arent going to be slacking on the electrical upgrades.

You dont have to spend a lot to get good results.

I see no reason to limit himself to 5k if he's willing to do electrical upgrades and that the best price to performance ratio korean right now is the vital power 700.1 which costs as much as every other 5k on the market out there.

You need to budget in electricalYou need a high output alternator and some copper battery terminals as well as a good fuse block.

That's gonna run you 800 alone

His budget for the whole system is 8k. He has plenty left over for electrical. Read bro.

I looked up the ZV5s and I've seen them in person. Nice. What is B-stock though? I saw that online. I'm more interested now in the ssa xcon 18's though.. for sure. Will have to see how those fit enclosure wise. I'll look up at that amp you listed.

I know. I planned on spending around 1,500 on alts and wiring alone. Two 270's and a gp car audio stage 3 elite wiring bundle. Like over $600 for the bundle. Comes with a lot.

Nice proof. Saw a lot of forum talk on here about it. Can't find where to purchase it at online? The website is terrible and doesn't even come with a description of the amp. I am convinced.. but I don't understand it. Don't hate on this statement but when I was looking into the Orion HCCA 5k amp, it's listed 7k @ 1 ohm. It's less than $999 too...so I don't understand what the Vital 700.1 gives me that the Orion HCCA 5k doesn't when I am even saving money on that amp.

Build quality the vital power is built like a tank and way underrated the Orion 5K is nowhere near in the same league if you tried to wire that Orion amp up at .35 like they did that vital that was just posted in the picture above it would be an instant death sentence these guys are 100% right about that amp for the price it is unbeatable right now

I get what you mean then.

You do know orion's been bought out right? Their quality has been declining for decades. Only recently their xtr series amps did anything special however they are back it at again with their new line of amps aka Zstreet series that is just as bad as boss audio/power acoustik in terms of overbloated power ratings. They have a notorious reputation of cutting corners purely due to who owns them AKA the same group that owns pyramid, lanzar Just to give you some reference. I'm sure you know how those two companies are ran.
