$5000 sound deadener challenge

Move on folks, nothing to see here. I don't think a single person fails to see that that his challenge is so flawed that it could never provide and credible, meaningful results.

Just a guy who left a forum pissed off. I think we have even had people leave here unhappy.

No reason for me to step up to his flawed challenge.
This guys does have a bone to pick with DIYMA, as many do, however unlike several people that have good reason to harbor angst, peter is different. Special perhaps.

He was a member of DIYMA felt the need to troll the forums posting racist and rude remarks as an AE named Jose Jiminez.

I called him out on it and he got pissy.

We went back and forth a few times. All I asked is that he stayed and played nice. He refused and asked me to ban him.

The best thing was what he said to me in the last PM..

"I am leaving now but if you want to talk, you know where my forum is.."

I mumbed to myself "no I don't actually".

I was actually stumped. I had no idea he had a forum.

I guess the rest of the world forgot to fill me in on it, and peter assumed that I paid attention to him on some level.

He still does I guess. I get an email or PM from someone every few days pointing out some stupid shit he is lamenting on about in his forum..

It is too bad too. He obviously knows a lot about 12 volt. He is just too angry and bitter to be of any value to anyone other than himself and few that think he is God..

If only he would direct his energy in to helping people, and explaining things in a way they are willing to listen to, he could be a very valuable member of the forums.

Tis a shame he has such a need to insult others in order to be right..

ANT

busy day for you today i see

He's smoking again. I get like that too sometimes.
Confucius say..... I just pulled some random crap out of my *** that I thought made sense, turns out, it makes sense and is true. I have a B.S. in BS //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It's ignorance like this that will help Peter keep his money. Yea, his methodology is crap, but he has a few good points. Rarely does any amateur car audio enthusiast apply "deadener" technically correct or even understand what it does.
Also, sound deadening manufacturers love for you not to know what their products really do and would love for you to believe the laws of physics are different for the automobile. Big cash cow, right there.
Who gives a shit about the science of it? It's an application that works.

IIRC, Peter has been working on this car for years, has rebuilt all of the panels with FG, etc. Just because there is more than one way to reach a goal doesn't necessarily mean that the other ways are invalid.

Aside from inherent vehicle differences, you also have to consider time and expense.I could have replaced my car's sheet metal with 1/4" steel and eliminated a lot of problems that vibration dampers address, but spending a few days applying deadener was much easier and satisfied my simple needs.

Here ya go, directly from my install thread.
"It definitely passed the knocking test //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif. Here is a before video without deadener:

Looks like you locked your keys in the trunk in that second video!

I do. True, but you do know sheep will follow each other right off the side of a cliff, right?

If you adopt that attitude, get your dice and CC ready and keep reading this forum for advice! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I should come up with my own challenge. $50 (yea I'm poor) for anyone that can scientifically justify the selection and proper procedure for the use of CLD in an automobile.

And you also save gas with less weight.
