12" SQ Sub

The Image sub is a great suggestion, SSA subs sound nice as well.

The IA Flatlyne is a very good sounding driver but depending on how sq oriented you are, it might have a little more output then you would like

i LOVE my dayton! buick posted it up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif i have it in a good ole sealed box for my home theater setup, was curious one day and threw it in my truck. i was more than impressed!

appreciate all the replies!

its looking like i should be between the JL W6v2, the Dayton HO, and the SSA ICON from what im seeing. if i ran the ICON off the 500RMS amp i already have would that be wnough power considering it can handle 1250RMS? or should i sell the 500.1 and get Alpine's 1000.1RMS?

Are you set on sealed? Super low tuned ported sounds like sealed, but digs much deeper and has more output. With that amp, a Dcon ported down low would do well from what I've read, or a JBL Power series 12. I'm running a P1224 (pictured in my avatar) tuned stupid low (25 hz), and it delivers eargasm SQ bass IMO. And, it's a tank.

Edit: The JBL Power series supposedly does extremely well sealed too. My WinISD plots confirm it, but I haven't personally sealed mine.

im not completely set on sealed, i just have always heard sealed is better for sq, haha. i just switched from prefab sealed to prefab ported on my kicker and, besides feeling more air moving around, it sounds pretty much the same. i guess custom boxes make the difference.

The Dayton HO is amazing for SQ regardless of its price. I am a big fan of JL subs but I would take the Dayton over the w6 for true SQ. I have experience with the new school w6s, the old school w6s and the Dayton and the Dayton is best sq wise. The w6 is still great though and will get louder. But the box will be your biggest determining factor. I tuned my daytons to 29hz in a small ported box and it worked out great.

That would be a function of the harness, not the HU, I think. Have you looked into a Maestro or iData interface? i would check with crutchfield...

thanks DB, that definitely helps swallowing a $300 price tag 😂 these would essentially be running midbass for me too

What is your budget? With being exposed to Rain.. I would recommend looking at a marine grade SAS Bazooka for the sub stage

Don't forget Hoffman's Iron Law. You can have 2 of the 3: low end, efficiency/sensitivity or small enclosure size...
