No it isn't and since you're probably never going to go look it up for yourself or just can't wrap your head around the quote I posted, it's simply the ratio of the output impedance of the amp to the impedance at the speaker terminals.
Now go ahead and tell us which two amps you were comparing with your anecdote, what other variables changed, and how you did this A/B comparison?
I may be misspeaking about the exact differences between full and half bridge based amps, but damping factor does matter. I don’t have anything against you, and but I’ve done a good of research related to damping factor specifically and what controls it. I do know that it has to do with the power supplies and half bridge being 1/2 the rail voltage of full bridge, and that seems (IMO) to affect the damping factor. I get output impedance. That’s not the full definition of damping factor and what it does/how it effectively works.
