Why go Old school?

You're talking strictly from a SPL stand point. Of course people are going to run newer gear as technology changed and you can get power for a lot cheaper now. If you look at it from a SQ stand point I'm pretty sure a lot of people still use old school amps.
I still will run my old school Zeds on substage, and not think twice about it..I may just do so first set up of amps By next year after I get my wall done up and meter first Just for the hell of it? Ill do that..All Autotek Old school amps.Id really like to see just what they are still capable of..LOL.That should be pretty fun.I think I still have 4-99s I could put on ea sub,and a couple 66s 66HCs to run on staging..Couple 44s..Or a complete BTS setup? Then try the new school setup.Ill try to make it easy to swapp amps out.

Yes I read your comment, no I don;t think the best amps were made back then. If they were so great, why don't they still make them? Don't say the price, because people will pay for good quality.
I'm saying a few old school amps can't power a wall of 4" coil subs. Yea they may be efficient, but they were made for subs that were efficient. Modern subs are more focused on power handling, so we can throw lots of power at them and get loud. Power is cheap now. Back then, subs had to be more efficeint, because power was limited/expensive.

YES, that does make me stray from OS amps. Do people still use OS subs and amps to compete? Not too often.

Newer stuff is louder.

Yes, that is why I chose not to run OS amps.
Each to theyre own as well..Lots of power these days, yet alot of it dirty power unless you spend the funds. There are still some great old school amps that shell out some power if you run them correctly. There are still alot of them that run clean and clear as hell with some power to boot as well, after 15 yrs-20.Ive bought newer amps that only last a year or two and just actually just give up?? and are door stops/parts amps/scrap pieces. Its really a shame that our hard earned money gets spent on these type of components..Its not just car audio..its all electronics in general.Among everything else.

While I do these set ups..Ill see If I can get with Twisteds in Tyler and see if he can help me out on metering ea setup, and maybe record it for me, as he should be quite creditable, and everyone knows he is reputable as well. They have a Turkey run or? every year also/car audio show that do meterings.I never thought about that. He is about two half hours away and the shop he works.Shadow and I went to Austin that year when Twisteds just put those 4-DAD subs and Arc amps in, and we had the privilege to get to sit in that Black SUV.LOL..Damnn thing was nasty as hell

I'm in the process of installing my PPI PC2350 which will run a pair of Alumapro Alchemy 12's. Also will be running my PC4100 which will be running some CDT's up front. I have run many different amps in my day and when it comes to a balance of decent power and SQ the PC series amps are some of my favorite.

It's a shame that companies like Precision Power have sold to companies that destroy the name and reputation just to open profit margin. I truly miss seeing "made in the USA." China is the worst of the worst, I would pay a premium to avoid China any day which is why the last newer 4 channel I bought was a Mosconi.

You are really clueless. This comment shows it, so you are telling me that old school earthquake D2 shredders can't power a wall lol. I've seen one ran to .25 on a wall with 4 9915 Pull a 150+. I would put a old school earthquake in my ride before most new stuff you talk about.

It seems most of you are doing this all wrong.

You cant compare a amp that cost well over a grand in 1995 to a amp that cost a few hundred bucks today.

Compare cost for cost. Put a old ZED up against a TRU, Brax, Audison. Don't put a old ZED up against a random MAXXSONICs POS. If you do it right you will see they are better today. If you do it wrong you will think they where better then.

You coming down around here for anything this year?

In my sig.. at the bottom,,I placed, and ran for almost a complete year on each sub an Old School Autotek BTS 7050..Even at approx 3 years on some Old School USA MADE Cail. Made Audiobahn AW1008t pair of tens An Autotek Mean Machine 99,and for a solid year 4-AW1008t tens on two Autotek BTS 7150s(1 for ea set of subs). They arent all 4in coil subs, but they are all 1k rms and up subs, and those amps beat the Chit out of them on the daily. You give me 4 subs of a 4" coil walled up that will handle 2 ohms mono, and Ill bring my 99s, or 7150s, or 7300s and see if those old school amps will not push those subs?Or we can set up with Taylor Fade to run a test for us if he has the time?Or some onelse creditable.I trust my good friend on this Forum Spooney.?
Any amp can power any sub within it's impedance limits. A 100 watt Boss amp can power a Sundown Team. Powered and pushed are different, imo. Will those amps get them moving to their full potential?

I've got the funds for quality.

Any vids? Also, cost? Never seen one of those

Sure. Go under termpro and check mike golden. Numbers don't lie
Did some searching, and couldn't find it.

The amp doesn't look bad, but also not that impressive.

2k @ 2 ohms back then would be a lot, I'm sure, but now isn't fantastic. A 2 ohm Brazilian would be wayy cheaper for the power. They're fine for daily.

Was it wired to .5 or something crazy low?

4 15's is a lot of cone area

You dont need 5k+ to hit higher then 150db.

Its a combination of suiting your box to the power available and what type of vehicle you have.

You really got to stop thinking that because your capable of pushing 10k watts means you will score better on the meter.

Have you ever hit a 150 in a musical build?

Cone area is king, yes. People hit 150's on low power.

10k does help on the meter though...

I'm not doubting the score, just wondering about what it was wired to, and any other details.

Calm down. Did you get your HO alts yet?

I havent done any metering as i have been planning my wall and waiting on my alternator, but why do you ask because im sure you have had an experience in the past to prove some point.

You were keeping it interesting and killing my boredom at work.. And no michael got confused with an order and thought it was mine so i doubt its been built.
