Which sub for tight bass, pref. ~$100?

Reference... hmm....

Do you think a single would be adequate with the infinities?

So many d@mn options.

And, if I could get an SA-10, how would that compare to these others?

Thanks guys I appreciate it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

SA-10 is not a SQ sub at all. The Dayton is much better for SQ; the SA-10 would be able to move more air and handle more power.

Infinity subwoofers and speakers are nothing special. Again, the Dayton will sound better. You're not going to get much better sound quality from a sub unless you go Aurasound or a high-end brand such as Scan-Speak, Focal, Seas, etc. Low Xmax on most of those, though, and they're quite expensive.

in my experience, you cant beat them for the money. at least the 1062's

I'm just a little worried putting the HF in something it's not designed for...
I guess I'll talk to him and see if he prefers the extra box space or extra power. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
from what little i know, they are interchangeable, its just different applications. the HF was designed for lower power, and ideal for sealed. will work perfectly fine ported. it was designed for sealed to get low and loud off little power.

the HO was designed for small ported boxes. it can be used sealed as well. only thing about using it sealed is, for it to be as loud and dig as low as the HF sealed in the same size box, the HO will need all its rated power to achieve same spl and low end extension. which isnt a big deal as long as u can afford and dont mind using a higher output amp. allows for u to go ported and not use much space but gain a lot more output with same power.j

throw the HF in a ported box, off its rated power, it wont dig as deep as the HO in the same box, even off the same power.

HO is the better option as long as u can afford the higher output amp so u can go sealed then if u dont like u can go ported without huge box. but if u know for sure ur going sealed, i would go the HF. i plan the 15 HF sealed

Well, they are cheap, and may be good enough for some people... but they aren't going to match the Dayton in SQ, and most likely not even in air displacement. I bet their Xmax is like 10mm or something similarly unimpressive. And it's probably not even rated in a good way (BL's sqrt(0.5) point) - a lot of car audio companies rate Xmax differently.

BAHHH HF HO MADNESSS //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Mmkay so HO in a 0.321 sealed box fed 600 RMS. This would go nicely?

If so, I gotta see if I can find a 600W amp that'll fit under an accord seat. other locations available but that'd be best.

will sound good, but wont be impressive on the lower frequencies. like i said if u just bump it up to .5 u gain 3db on the low end. dont let me try and change ur mind, because .3 will provide a nice sound and play the frequencies your speakers cant. thats all u really need from a sub. then if u dont like it u could always go bigger on the box.

He would be fine with 0.5 cubes. Right now he has a sundown sax 125.2 which is rated at 400 bridged - I take it that it would be unwise to run the sub off this until we find something bigger?

I picked up a great condition Diyma R12 for $110...It's made to do well in small boxes, i.e. 0.5cft. Sounds fantastic. Pretty inefficient though, so don't expect much output. A Boston G5 would do a very similar job with a little more output if you can find one for under $150. I picked mine up in a small box with the GTR passive radiator for $100, sold it with my MMats amp for $350, and bought both back for $150. If I can find a deal like that, I'm sure you can too.

it would be just fine. more power will just make it louder. he might like it just fine off the 400 watts and not have to upgrade

This all sounds lovely. I will talk to him about the HO and a 0.5 box. That sounds like something he'd be happy with.

Thank you so much everyone. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
