Which set-up would be better?

HOLY CRAP! That HDS312 hits HARD. Lol, might be too hard, maybe I should go with just the HDS212 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gifI think that having just a custom box with it might be enough for me. I like my mirriors, and here I was thinking about getting a 15 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Here is a HDS212, but the amp is a Sound Stream LS1110 (5 Channel) Can't find it though

Rule of thumb. Always have more bass than you need. You can always turn it down either with gains or sub level. A sub sitting on its lazy *ss all day will live longer than a sub that's pushed hard every day. Same rule with amps. Plus its always fun to demo to friends and strangers and they ask woah you got two 15s back there? you answer nope, its just one 12

he used these designs http://www.srtforums.com/forums/f40/official-free-ported-box-plans-56k-no-435910/ I think its the 2.5 cubic feet @ 32hz one.

Only thing I would fear about having the HDS312 is having to worry about the power draw. I do not want to have to do the Big 3, etc.
big 3 upgrade will help any vehicle's electrical system and its not that hard to do at all. If you get a good efficient amp, it shouldnt matter that much. You buy cheap chinese made amps, you'll have to pay for it in electrical upgrades. A soundqubed q1200.1 would be fine with just the big 3.

The big three on the 1st Gen TSX is a little bit of a pain, btu I should be able to manage. The Positive on the Alternator is pretty crammed in the engine bay. It has been done, but seems to be a bit of a hassle compared to other vehicles. However, I could do it, just will take longer.

That makes sense, maybe having the HDS312 wouldn't be a bad idea. I would also need a new wiring kit, I am sitting with 4AWG wire for the power and the ground.

For that box, I would need to make it deeper, but not as wide for the area in my trunk. My current prefab is 30.25 and pushes on the sides of the trunk (The liner towards the back of the seats), so will probably need to make it 30 inches just for simplicity.

I can attest for the American Bass VFL 26801 mono amp..Its a little beast and is a work horse,as well.My neighbor runs an Audio Tecknix dvc4 12@2ohms in a 1.6@34 htz under the seat in his 06 xcab chevy we put in with that amp,and does very nice..yet runs a pair of American Bass XFL DVC 4 ohm tens and is pretty brute..Last week he wanted to try one of my XFL 12s DVC 2 Ohm in 2.0@32 htz @1 ohm load and it was pretty nasty in there..Big 3, stock 140 amp alt with an Orileys Super Start AGM battery with the American Bass VFL 150.4 on mids and highs.sounds really good.

Agreed:boink:
First things first. List your stuff for sale somewhere, see if you can sell it. I'm guessing if you can't, you won't be getting a bigger amp or the HDS300.
True. That is also why I am thinking about just doing the HDS212 with a custom box. It might not be the HDS312, but it seems like it will do better than my 2 12s in the pre-fab. The custom box and the sub might come around $180, and I just install it, so it seems more into my price range of a beginning college student.

Hit up @CSCStang to get a T-line enclosure design if you want loud and sound quality with very little power.

This is a pair of hds 200 8s he built on less than 400 watts of power total. Thats less than 200 watts per sub.
