What sub to get with 500WRMS?

Once I got a quote for the box I pretty much decided not to get it from them. I just got new speakers all around and a 4 channel amp that I just installed also.

I have 2 12" Kenwoods right now in a bandpass box that I got when I was younger and had no clue what it was I just got it because I thought that it looked cool. If I got a box that was buit for my subs, so like a ported that is tuned to it and everything. Would my subs sound better or louder? I'd rather just get a box built for them then get a new sub right now.

If the subs are in one of those shitty prefab bandpass boxes a different enclosure will definitely improve the performance, those pre fab bandpasses are tuned to around 70hz and have horrible cancellation problems.

yea it is...

You know if you remove the plexiglass panel, stuff polyfill into the ports then seal them off you will have a nifty sealed enclosure.

Also, turn the box so it faces the back of the car, it will sound better.

The RMS on those are 160. I had them turned the other way and it really didnt sound much different, but I will try it again. I want to save for a new car, and these sound good for cheap subs so I will just get a box from someone here. I was talking to iceteebone about it a while ago so i'll get back to him.

Try modifying that box to make it sealed before buying anything, it may give you the sound you want, remember that box is tuned to a ridiculous 70hz, sealing it will lower its frequency response considerably.

To modify-

-Remove plexiglass panel on front.

-stuff polyfill into the ports.

-Seal off ports by screwing a piece of wood or plastic over them.

-Turn box to face other way, the shitty bandbass don't respond to being turned but in a sealed configuration it should work well.

Try this first and see what you think, it has worked well for some people I know.

And also, reverse the polarity (phase) at the terminals if nessesary.
