What sub to buy

I am thinking to get a sub or multiple for my truck, I'm wondering what would be best for playing music, mainly rap. I'm thinking an spl sub but I don't know how good that would sound for music. whatever I buy I would build a box to spec for. budget is about 400-700 CAD. Thanks

What Truck?? Need some Info.. Du you have an amplifier? Using Aftermarket Deck/HU? How much room are you willing to give up for the sub?
