What sub(s) can hit 150+db in trunk under $350

does all tune their boxes under 38hz, if you only want to play high so tune higher! maybe he wants to go for pure spl? if so, the first thing to do is check the cars own frequens, and after that, build a box and tune it after the car. so yes, the main thing is in the box, but the car helps a lot too.. a small car is much more easy to play high in if you compare to those suvs all drive in us..

I just wanted to add that sometimes it's difficult to find the correct resonant frequency of a car. Different boxes may have different peaks within the car. I've had my truck peak from 35-51 hz. It can be very box dependent on where it peaks. A lot of times what you guess for the tuning isn't the perfect tuning.

true, but the best way i have learned is to put the sub in a small sealed box and run a sweep track from 30-70hz and check where it play highest..

and of course a thing that gives db is a thing called testing..

but if everything is correct installed, and you have good with power 150dbz wouldnt be impossible to hit with 2 12".. for an example in my last car (stationweagon) i hit 144db@36hz with only a single sx15,orion 1200D and with a tiny little old battery that was in the car when i bought it..

I've yet to try that. I've been curious as to how legit that it really is. My method has been try more than one box, play with the tuning, and see what gets the loudest on the meter:laugh:

All i have down here is USACI, so thats all i care about
I agree. It's dumb when people are like "well if it's not db drag style then it doesn't count." Some cars work well legal while others don't. My truck doesn't like being sealed but my buddy's car does. I think outlaw comps are great because people have more freedom to choose what works best with their car.

yea its not good to give misinformation..but too many ppl ont his board rather insult ppl instead of help them..yes $350 and 150 dbs dont really fit in the same sentence..it cost me bout 1000 to put together a decent system to hit mid 140's in a trunked car with the seats down...A 150db in a trunked car is a pretty rare even with someone who has a much higher budget..but i guess it is possible.
I did it, with around 5500 smacks, lol! Plus It was just a DD with a few local comps thrown it. It can be done, with the money, time and so on.

220amp Ohio Generator altenator, big3, Optima red top up front, a shit ton runs of 0/1g wire, custom ported box built by a local shop I used to work for that the box was built in the trunk and the whole rear supports were taken out for the massive port and was made of 3/4"mdf, 4 9500 MTX 12's, 2 modded 1501d MTX amps doing over 2000rms each and two other MTX highs amps and 2 more dry cells in the back with a lot of time (Took 2 months to get where I wanted it) blood, sweat and tears went into it.

I have some pics on here some where. Car was stolen though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I'm not saying it doesn't count...

Apparently you people cannot read... the OP asked about a 150 on the DASH.

kthnx.

Didn't read thru the whole post but what amount of power are you working with? My ARCH enemy int he trunk class world ran 2 L7 15's in a car similair to your cavalier if not the same car in 2002 and his max was 144.3 on a linear X. Thats 30 square inches of air being moved. I had a personal high of 146.1 ot the back of a 88 Accord with a modified MMATS D300HC and a DD9515c. Taking $350 and doing 150's out the trunk i've only seen done by American bass subs in a dodge neon I think they were 12's might have been 15's.
