what sub hits loud and Lowww the best? (Xcon, Ixl, lms-r)?

Looking to buy some new subs, used to own eclipse sw9122s, and nightshades, now looking to change it up. Im thinking of tuning in the 31-33 hz range and really like the low low notes like the eclipses gave me(the nightshades weren't bad either). Any experience in the three subs listed would be great or im always open to new suggestions. Im looking for some low end monsters and am not too worried about higher hz bass just so long as it is decent.

thx in advance

I agree. I know John and stop in frequently. Also contact bumpinbuick on here. He works with him and maybe be able to give you better answers but my vote goes to either AE since you dont need **** for power to get loud with those. There sooooo efficient. Or.... The TC sounds I guess once you go TC you dont go back. Since a majority of my collection is TC. Check this thread.

I know all about John and his stuff. I have had 3 acquaintance have issues with the av/john himself.

The av is a low end monster, but the 50-80hz range is very weak, at least in the box that John recommended to a good friend of mine. He (the friend) described him windshield wipers jumping at 20-30 hz but the bass was nonexistent at the 50-80hz range.

Another acquaintance had the voice coil fail and a third had his blow after 2 weeks. Yes, all electronics especially subwoofers will have failures and this was when the sub first came out. Seeing John's actions towards one of these people convinced me to never deal with him.

Maybe he has fixed the issues with the sub, I am not sure. But customer service is #1 in this business

i cant comment on the customer service or failure of the drivers, as i have not had that experience.

i model ur rli 8s in 1.5 cubes@35, 40hz up u have a huge dip in output. mostly due to lack of a great design.

i model the ae-av15x it plays solid from 30hz up, almost perfectly flat. so put it in a car, the low end from the cabin gain, ya 50hz+ is going to be quieter than the 30hz, but its still really loud.

anyways, here is a good read, its not too long, and it shows/tells why the AE AV series is better than an idmax.

CarAudioForum.com - View Single Post - IDMax 12 vs AE-AV12 X/H or TD12 X/H

if u notice at the bottom he answers someone's question and says the following:

"I think the sealed AV15X could work out quite well in the sealed enclosure. In most vehicles the upper bass ends up being lacking as there is little cabin gain there. The higher efficiency above 50Hz would give a big advantage."

My subs are in that box based on the recommendation of both ram designs and the one that built my box. It sounds just fine.

I have read that thread. I am a regular at caraudioforum. The customer service was bad, the first few runs (at least) of the av was significantly flawed. All his claims are based on T/S specs which can only take you so far. They change with time and with power. Real world performance is what matters and in more than one instance (chronicled in the thread I linked) the sub lacked significantly in upper end performance. Not just suffering, more like the upper end being nonexistent. Even if this can be worked around or if it has been fixed, I would never buy anything from John.
