That must be a terrible driver. A Supra with around 700 HP when my step dad and I went to the track, was hitting mid 9s.

And FYI, you are an idiot. 2nd gen Eclipses came in AWD, and with 20k, you could EASILY buy a GSX and get it running very fast numbers in the 1320.
And to cotjones, I cant stand anything you EVER post in any thread. Just because you have an uber slow ugly as hell Eclipse, doesnt mean the decent JDMs cant run fast times in the 1/4. If you want a fast daily driver I would say go 95-99 Eclipse GSX. If it is strictly for drag racing, I would go with a fox body Mustang.

What kind of retard dumps 20k in a 4k car??? I'm sorry I don't give a crap how fast it is, at the end of the day its still a shitty ugly little eclipse. Probably domestic cars right? While I respect everyones opinion on domestic cars I really need something reliable that will last and let's be realistic American cars have not really been the cream of the crop in a long time.

Any car will last as long as you take care of it. There is a guy (http://blog.mlive.com/grpress/2008/08/volvo_with_27_million_miles_cr.html) who has a 66 Volvo with 2,700,000 miles on it and it still runs.

Lots of cars make it to high miles but compare the amount of Fords to Hondas on the road with 300k+ you will see a huge difference. Plus it probably cost the Ford owners major money to keep them running after things breaking down compared to regular oil changes and tune ups on the Honda.

Like I said I have no problem with American cars just don't trust spending my hard earned money on them.

As for Fast and the Furious, I think most kids act that way. I am a grown man spending my money on this so it's not a little project being funded by my daddy.

Now on to the car.. I went an drove this today and fell in love with it! Granted it's not the best color and the rims are horrid but that only helps turn it into more of a monster sleeper!

I have also been looking at this kit, has anyone used Turbo-Kits.com before? Found this one http://www.turbo-kits.com/eclipse_turbo_kits.html and figure I can probably pull it off on a long weekend if I take a Friday off.

Going to post on Craigslist and see if I can find someone local to help me out who has done them before if not my GF's dad does some of his own car work and can probably help along with the directions I think it is very doable.

Looking to build a 9 second car. Is a Mitsubishi Eclipse a good platform to start with I imagine with a cold air intake, hi performance muffler and turbo the 3.8 would float.

5.0 w/ a 383 stroker motor, stripped down, and slicks will do 10-9s in the 1/4 mile depending on driver ability.

1. I want time slips of an Eclipse doing an 11 second quarter mile with a turbo/cai/ecu/exhaust.2. Stop comparing things to a Veyron. Even if you match the quarter mile speed of it, you will never match the top end or handling so...no.

3. If I was trying to build a 9 second car, a FWD Eclipse would NOT be my first choice.

im gonna have to beg the differ a friend of mine has had about 4 2nd gen eclipse's and all have been awd 1 a talon and other a laser and with non upgraded turbos and tuning he was doing 11's and believe it or not his only fwd one was actually the quickest

yeah something wron g with the driver my buddy in orlando his name is willy they call him wolverine. hes all over youtube putting like 15-1600hp on the dyno in a 94-96 mustang.he does 9's but only cause he cant keep the car on the ground and thats daily driven
