What is a good track car?

I am hoping to be at or a little under 20k when all is said and done. If I have to wait on rims until next year that's fine. This year I would like to work on the 'Go'


Probably domestic cars right? While I respect everyones opinion on domestic cars I really need something reliable that will last and let's be realistic American cars have not really been the cream of the crop in a long time.

I am not an idiot who races in the streets, the point is to have a daily driver I can go to work and pick up chicks in and also have the ability to go to the track and stomp on quit a few cars there when I want.

Don't believe so. I have yet to find a decent turbo kit for the eclipse. seriously though man look at some 350z's you can find a 03-05 like new for under 15K and the body style hasn't changed hardly at all. they make amazing bolt on full twin turbo and intercooler kits for them for around 3-4k

Your not paying attention. You will not do 9s in the 1/4 in a daily driven fwd car. It just ain't happening. Don't even waste your money trying.

Looking to build a 9 second car. Is a Mitsubishi Eclipse a good platform to start with I imagine with a cold air intake, hi performance muffler and turbo the 3.8 would float.

I like how you think track car and drag car are the same thing, fyi for the money it would take to make an fwd car fast you could just as easily buy a used Lotus Elise and have a car that can actually handle.

HAHAHA the Bugatti veyron only does 10 seconds. I don't think you know what you are asking for a car to do 9 seconds and I doubt it will be easy, (if possible with an eclipse.) mine does 14.1. Of course upgrades will help but **** 9 seconds is FAST.

your eclipse is for ****** having females, fast eclipses are the gsx model and gst with work

And FYI, you are an idiot. 2nd gen Eclipses came in AWD, and with 20k, you could EASILY buy a GSX and get it running very fast numbers in the 1320.

And to cotjones, I cant stand anything you EVER post in any thread. Just because you have an uber slow ugly as hell Eclipse, doesnt mean the decent JDMs cant run fast times in the 1/4. If you want a fast daily driver I would say go 95-99 Eclipse GSX. If it is strictly for drag racing, I would go with a fox body Mustang.

Sticker on mine was 16ish i'm not sure exactly, it's complicated. cause of trade ins and re-pricing. But mine is a 2006.

With CAI. good turbo, intercooler, ECU, Exhaust etc. You are probably looking at a maximum of about 11 seconds with the clipse without massive weight reduction and other upgrades.

But like i said 11 seconds is nothing to sneeze at, the Bugatti only does 10. The fast and the furious makes it out to be way too easy. Most street cars just aren't designed to do a quarter mile that fast. They want top-end and top end sacrifices 1/4 time.

1. I want time slips of an Eclipse doing an 11 second quarter mile with a turbo/cai/ecu/exhaust.

2. Stop comparing things to a Veyron. Even if you match the quarter mile speed of it, you will never match the top end or handling so...no.

3. If I was trying to build a 9 second car, a FWD Eclipse would NOT be my first choice.
