What is a good track car?

5.0 w/ a 383 stroker motor, stripped down, and slicks will do 10-9s in the 1/4 mile depending on driver ability.
A stang w/ a supercharged 383 will be a fully streetable car and the engine won't have any daily issues.
Why would you put a chevy motor in a ford? You can get fast with ford parts just as easily.

Read my previous posts. I know Mustangs were built to go fast but anything with a redneck stigma attached to it is just out of the question. I would get laughed at by everyone pulling up to da club in a Mustang //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

The lack of reliability is my #1 reason for not wanting one though.

No every persons dream car I know but mine. I am a very simple guy and don't demand much I just want to own a race car before I settle down and do the whole family thing.
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif you would get laughed at more in a riced out import than in a "redneck" mustang

And, you want reliability so you want a DSM?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

ricers are for teh chinkys. pure american muscle. Got a boss 429 original block sitting in the garage, me and my pops are dropping it in a gt40 kit car.

dyno'd 800 on pump, im trying to convince him to throw a supercharger on it and get about 1000 on pump.

Well guys I am off to bed. Kind of nervous about if the guy is going to accept my offer or not to be honest.

Hope I don't have trouble sleeping. If I do see you in a bit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Lots of cars make it to high miles but compare the amount of Fords to Hondas on the road with 300k+ you will see a huge difference.
most 4.6 fords ive seen with regular maintenance will usually carry over 200k at least, now older pushrods engines usually need rebuilds before that, those modular engines last a long time ive even seen a few in the 300k

redneck stigma this isnt an 80's camaro or firebird, mustangs can be very nice especially the newer body styles they can be very clean cars alot nicer than most eclipses with there big gay spoilers and big ole rims on there, if your looking for easy power i'd go with a v8 if you dont like the mustangs or camaros go make a monster miata its got your ricer look along with alot of power

o jesus we got a regular 429 stroker over here making around 800-1000hp it still needs a tune and dyno but thats going in a 67 fastback, anyone see that they are making 427 cammer blocks again big block modulars ftw

Lots of cars make it to high miles but compare the amount of Fords to Hondas on the road with 300k+ you will see a huge difference. Plus it probably cost the Ford owners major money to keep them running after things breaking down compared to regular oil changes and tune ups on the Honda.
Like I said I have no problem with American cars just don't trust spending my hard earned money on them.

As for Fast and the Furious, I think most kids act that way. I am a grown man spending my money on this so it's not a little project being funded by my daddy.

I have also been looking at this kit, has anyone used Turbo-Kits.com before? Found this one http://www.turbo-kits.com/eclipse_turbo_kits.html and figure I can probably pull it off on a long weekend if I take a Friday off.
Japanese doesn't always mean quality, alot of people get this in their head and its not true. I've had 3 cars, a 1987 Honda Civic DX, a 1997 Ford Taurus, and my current car a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer. The Civic was utter crap, it needed constant repairs and was eventaully totaled when someone tried to drive from one parking lot to another directly across the street without looking and drove right in front of me. The Taurus has been in the family a long time and it has for the most part been trouble free, the biggest problem it has ever had was its water pump breaking when a belt broke, and the rear brakes disintegrating but that was due to neglect. The Lancer has had no real major problems other then having to get a new exhaust system after it was discovered to be completely jacked up do to a computer programing fault(found when car went in for recall on said fault), the Lancer has also had numerous little problems, accessory belt loosening constantly, buggy side mirror controls, constantly needing alignment, a broken weld in the driver side door that rattles when its open, oh and the paint started oxidizing on the bumper after someone bumped into it with their car in a parking lot. The fact is its not always so cut and dry quality and reliability wise when it comes to American vs Japanese.

Its not always teenage idiots doing the fast and the furious thing, I see plenty of people well older then me doing it as well.

Make sure you do your research on getting a turbo, don't do any modifications that will make it unsmogable, a trip to the referee will ruin your day.

foreign cars are much more reliable than domestic cars. how often do you see domestic cars from the 90's still on the road? how many domestic cars could go over 200,000 miles? to say domestic cars are better than foreign cars is an ignorant statement.

I never said their better I said its not always true that Japanese cars are more reliable and of better build quality. Also when you say foreign I hope you meant Japanese and Korean because American cars have surpassed European cars in reliability not to long ago.

driving a straight line is for noObs, it takes real skill to carry speed through the bends :p
