Weird problem.

Are you only running a sub amp, or are you also running an amp to your mid / highs as well? If so how did you hook up the RCA's? Definitely TRY different RCA's, but don't go ripping them out just yet until you test 1st //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif D@mn sorry to hear about the HU situation, you should've tested that theory swapping the HU's BEFORE you sold it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Another thing I'd do is run a chassis ground from your HU to a good solid grounding point somewhere such as a steering column support bracket bolt / stud / nut / etc...
Yes just one amp. Highs are just connected straight to the head unit. The HU ground was something i was thinking about doing as well. Currently i just connect the black ground wire to the black wire on my cars wire harness. i don't know exactly where it goes to but yeah i was thinking about running the ground wire to its own ground point.

Grounding your RCA's at the head unit has been recommended twice already.... Have you done it yet?
Yes of course. it didn't work. I also tried 2 different HU's and it did it on both. I ordered a new HU and a new set of RCA cables plus ima try ground the HU to its own grounding point. Hopefully one of those fixxes the problem.

- Do that 4 sure and if it still doesn't help take a length of 12-14 gauge and just run it directly from the + battery to the constant power of your HU right through your window or door 1st just to TEST and see if there is a change, if there is, then run it properly and be done with it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

with a fuse inline, if it does fix it

I believe that falls under running it PROPERLY, as anything ran on the positive side of the electrical system will be fused if ran PROPERLY //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

if the stereo is the amplification for the mids and highs, i would agree with grounding your rca to the stereo chasis to see if the noise goes away, if the noise goes away when you unplug the rcas then it is likely the rcas or the amp has an issue

So installed a new head unit, grounded it directly to the chassis instead of connecting it to the cars harness and still no change. Im just trying to get a hold of another amp so i can test it, im pretty sure it is the amp though..

Ok i tested it with a different amp and it still did it..Not as bad though but i think because it was only like a 200watt amp so it was less noticeable but it was still there. I dont know what to do. i have tried pretty much everything. What would running the constant power wire from the HU straight to the battery do? Thats the only thing suggested that i havent tried?

Sometimes the sound gets a bit lower, then gets normal again, only listening to FM radio. It does not do this when streaming music via wired Apple...
