Trunk Rattle Questions

I have a lot of trunk rattle. The guy at the audio shop told me if i took out my rear speakers and left them empty it would help(Lead straight to my trunk). so there would be 2 holes connecting my trunk and cabin together. sound waves would go through or something. Is this true? or made up?

Edit: Also is installing sound deadener hard? how much does it run?

Yeah it might help the air move through a little. But you need to use sound deadener on your trunk lid and rest of your trunk.

It may help some... but it won't magically fix it, you need some deadener

What sound deadner would be easiest to install by myself? i was looking at fatmat

i have a 98 corolla with 2 200rms 10"s in a vented box

most sound deadner is easy 2 apply just cut to whatever shape u need and peel the back off and use a roller and ur done. if u have hole in ur trunk lid u could use great stuff spray foam

i put pollyfill inside all the panels in my tunk and it killed almost all my rattle, onlything left is my stupid spoiler that rattles.
