How do you guys determine what box will fit through the trunk opening?

I would like to get the largest box i can but I feel like its not as simple as busting out a tape measure.

Any tricks or techniques that can help me figure out maximum available cubes?

Get some cardboard and tape of some sort and make a cardboard sub box shape and you just just cut with scissors and slide it in and out until it works.

If you want to go big learning how to use a Kreg jig is a must, otherwise like in a Camaro or Mustang you'll be limited by what can make it thru that opening.

Building it in the trunk for volume will pretty much make it a one off so know your design is spot-on.

Otherwise its gonna be cardboard and the greatest compromise... lack of airspace. Many just go sealed at that point.

This went into a Camaro I heard, but it took premium materials (.6875" Russian 13ply) and some hedging with the measurements given. Thru the trunk opening no less and I heard it took some drama to get it in there.

I'd realize a pair of 10's can do work, cone is king yes but enclosure is everything.

Like mentioned above, you can make the box out of cardboard first, or you can the width of the trunk opening, the height of the opening, and the angled depth of the trunk. The angled depth is the angle at which you will be sliding the box at. All measurements are to be taken at their narrowest part, except for the height. That will need some common sense to know where to measure because some openings are curved.
