When I was young and stupid, I hooked up a alpine mrv 1000 with 18 ga power wire. After all kinds of problems, I decided I needed 2 18 ga wires run to it. I spent around $1000 on the amp and 2 boston acoustics 10 pro series subs and was too cheap to wire it properly. Finally after frying batteries, amps, wires and a few other things, I decided to have it professionally hooked up. The guys at tweeter shure got a laugh at my install.

my buddy works as a installer in town so i get to hear a lot of odd stories but i think the one that takes the cake is by far when some guy came in there with a one kicker 8'' and one kenwood 8' both packed in a leaky plywood box, getting ran off head unit power and making the lights dim like a MOTHER FVCKER when any ''bass'' hit

Talk about surfboards... My 1507 is a monster. When it came to my door i was like "wtf?" when i opened it i had never realized how long it is. My buddy joked around while i was installing it that something that big and "Old" (6 years is old?) would be better off with trucks and wheels under it. When i turned it on though... He swore he almost nut himself.. I love my big ugly 1507.

got another one in yesterday. make a long story short. there is a audio shop around here... car tunes.... and they are doing some shisty work... this is the 4th car i have had come in with work done from car tunes. and after digging into there work it's like they higherd a babboon to do this stuff....

he brought his car in. was wondering why he has to turn his headunit volume up pretty high in order to get the sub amp to come on. i checked it out and there was a few things...

the owner of the car said that the installer at car tunes tould him you should never use the remote turn on wire.... so he had it hooked up to a door speaker wire?????? what a tard..

the cap for the sub amp was one step away from being a bomb.

the other car that came in was a suburban.... with power issues. first of the power wire was 0 ga. solderd to 4ga just after the firewall, solderd into 8ga!!!! as the wire went on it got smaller..... and his system concisted of 2 1000w amps and 4 12's... the owner said that he had complaind to car tunes that it wasent as loud as it should be... and the told him it was his alt.. haha

The funniest I can think of was I saw a guy hook up his subs in a 5 gallon tub thats used for concrete compund, and used electrical tape to keep the sub in the box. Also I saw someone cut a hole in a milk crate(those who grew up in NY those where the crates people used as basketball rims and would cut out the bottom if they didn't have one) any way and the tapped the holes up with masking tape.

Seen Myth Busters build a 80" Woofer and stick it in a oldsmobile. They ran the sub off the drive shaft!
I had to lay on the floor for 5mins from laughing so hard.

right now i have a guy working for me that did a real quick install in his jeep because he was so anxious to listen to it. he ran 4 awg with no fuse to the rf1500bd, then installed the cv old school stroker in a prefab wal mart 15" box that had too small a cutout for it so the sub mouning bracket sits about 1/4 inch away from the baffle, and he used 4 awg wire for speaker wire because it was all he had. im rebuilding it for him when i get back to everett. right now it sucks though.
