The do's and dont''s of my first wall....it seems like something isn't right....

No no that didnt sound mean in any way....and i prefer and honest opinion lol....better to be straight forward than beat around the bush. I kinda had a feeling that's what they were doing....god **** kansas weather....it started raining out of nowhere so i had to stop....but i did shrink it quite a bit, and that definitely helped alot.....it still feels like i need to shrink it a little more though....they're noticeably louder now....but it still sounds like they're unloading just slightly though.

Yeah neither am i lol...hispls said to add them starting from the back and just stack them. Well I'm pretty sure thats what he said, maybe i misunderstood him? I assumed thats what he meant? But it doesnt seem right to me....shouldn't i cut them to length and go around the edge of the baffle all the way around? Like lay them flat across the flat part of the baffle and go around it.

There should be a actual port. Not o hole in the box with wood slammed everywhere. Please take a hour on google and just type in subwoofer port and you'll get the idea. If I were you I'd take the $ you've been throwing at this and finding a shop somewhere to build one. Or pay for a design and cut list.

Those subs are getting no pressure at all. Its as if you have an infinite baffle situation going on.

Pretty much free air subs.

It would of done you better to thin the port then build a wall from the left side of the port and one from the bottom of the port.

That would give you 4 walls and give you more of an accurate tune frequency.

Being that its a wall you really wont ever get an exact tune as it will just peak at a certain frequency by the port size dimensions.

And do cover up that back hole. You are letting pressure go to the back where your batteries and amp are.

F uck that I'd much rather learn on my own than have someone build my shi t for me lol....not trying to sound like a dic k by any means....and yes i know i need to cover the hole in the back.....it gets alot louder now that i did the port the right way lol.....i wasnt thinking straight earlier.....been having some girlfriend problems....so my brain has been off in other places....it definitely doesn't feel like 150db's though.....i know what 150 and 155 feels like.

That's looking much better. But if u ain't doing 150 on 3 18s and 8k something seems off. I'm close or right there on two 15s. And no shame in having a shop build a wall. Get what you pay for.

Ment not enough air space for the 18s, or your severely unloading your subs with that much ports. Yes port is good, it allows airflow, but to much and your subs can not pressurize. Imagine it as a piston in your car. Pressure helps combustion. Remove the pressure and engine is useless. Subs are the same way. Unless your running a ib system. Your trying to build rome in a day. It took me two months to do my build in my spare time but the wait was soooo worth it.
A port isn't a giant hole that gets tighter as it gets smaller, it's a column of air that resonates in sympathy with the cone around tuning. It acts like another woofer in phase.

..shouldn't i cut them to length and go around the edge of the baffle all the way around? Like lay them flat across the flat part of the baffle and go around it.
That's what I meant, stack them flat ways along the flat back of the baffle to add depth to the port. Once you have the length you like you cad add ply to make it smooth and clean (like your port walls were originally, but probably not as long.

Sorry I didn't explain better, my hand isn't healed enough to type properly yet.
In the end of op gets it solid and it's doing what he wants what's it matter if he used what he had?? And with a wall the beauty panel will hide it all. While yes @ferguson621 your rushing and it's not award quality at least your learning. I'd rather see someone learn and mess up scraps than drop 500$ in wood and learn and mess up good stuff. This forum has gotten so negative lately. Why not get back the the fun of the hobby and help each other with positive stuff instead of bashing the **** out of someone. This is a shared passion or else no one would be here. This place is just a feeding ground for keyboard warriors. @Buick_66 any pics of your builds to show why you feel the need to bash the guy in your original post?? For real though why not try and help the guy vs put him down? Obviously this is taking a mental toll on him and the fellow basshead could use some friendly support. Sorry for the long post but in this nasty world we live in we could use a little more posativity. Pics Ferguson of progress being made? I'm not even close as skilled as some of the guys here but will give some positive advice if I'm able to in a beneficial way. Just take your time man and focus on details and it will get there.
Oh no your fine hispls....i should have known lol, its been one of those days....shi t isn't going as planned lol....oh well, im back on track now. And lbetts it does seem like something is off still. Do any of you have some idea's as to what might be the problem? I know i need to cover that little hole in the back lol. But besides that

I see light coming in from the back wall. It needs to be sealed air tight, that's a must. Also the port is not a port, it's just a hole. Lol u need to make a port with 4walls.
How is that not a port?

It has 4 walls, the top and side of the shell and the depth of the baffle.

Those subs are getting no pressure at all. Its as if you have an infinite baffle situation going on.
I don't think infinite baffle means what you think it means.

If the inside of the box isn't tight he has a leaky sealed box. His port area is not out of line for that much cone area and box volume.

Ok how does this look?
F uck that I'd much rather learn on my own than have someone build my shi t for me lol....not trying to sound like a dic k by any means....and yes i know i need to cover the hole in the back.....it gets alot louder now that i did the port the right way lol.....i wasnt thinking straight earlier.....been having some girlfriend problems....so my brain has been off in other places....it definitely doesn't feel like 150db's though.....i know what 150 and 155 feels like.
Relax, take a break.

First you MUST make sure the box is airtight and solid.

I had something different in mind for adding port length, what you did sort of works but leaks all over so won't really give you an idea of what is happening.

Stack wood for port like this:

or

make port insert like this

You MUST seal that box airtight and make sure it is solid before you begin testing ports. It's not unloading due to the port but due to the box isn't sealed!
