The do's and dont''s of my first wall....it seems like something isn't right....

**** buick_66 i really like your build! I wish i had a spare car so i could really take my time. But unfortunately this is my daily driver. And it still sounds like the wood is slapping a little when it hits the higher notes like 40hz+....and the lower notes it sounds like something is rattling a little. Is it possible they've got to much cubic feet and they still can't build the right amount of pressure even though the port is small enough now.

My guess is there's just to many air leaks. Like los33 said basically ib (exaggeration) right now. Gotta seal it up.
Worse. IB would imply the cabin is entirely sealed. Leaky box is far worse.

After it is airtight test for flex and fix that. If it is not airtight and rigid NOTHING you do to the port will help, once the rest is tight you have endless options to modify the port.

You're doing fine, just slow it down..... you're rushing again and leaving things half arsed.

Probably because it is. Airtight and bracing! Once you have that sorted out post some pics and start testing port inserts.

Dam. You caught my ninja exit.

Ok will do! How should i go about making it more solid....the back is where my problem is, i can already tell. Should i use 2x6's? Or osb? I have about half a sheet of ply thats in smaller pieces....not real small....about 3 or 4 pieces

Wait....before i do that.....what do you recommend i do to make it sealed completely? Any special tricks that i can do? Before i waste more time and effort lol
I can't really see what is leaking, 45's on the seems may be a good place to start, small gaps are also a good place for fiberglass. and possibly just bracing to the large walls will go farther than more layers from where you are now.

Wow, throw away that box! 1st and formost. If you're looking for something that massive and involved, you gotta do it as right as possible and use sheets of 3/4" particle board (my preference) on that size box. Do your research on the subs and what they want for airspace, if you intend to run a open box like that plywood thing. Individual space is most likely best and ported or not. Once you have the wood measured and cut to form, you'll want to install sound deadening mat like Dynomat or your like. All over inside panels, roof, sides, trunk etc. Then if you're going to reinstall any interior panels where the box will be. That's a protect but one I've done quite a few times.

Great first post buddy. Particle board is my favorite. What do you suggest he run airspace wise for his subs?
