Testing Sundown's new z15"s

i loved the way my old 2 15w6's sounded sealed (4cuft).... how would 2 of these do in a sealed box that size?????
if you liked the jls sealed these will sound a bit differnet...

poeple simply baffel me on jl woofers.. i just never got a nack for them except the amps are excellent and the comps nice..

with that being said.. 3.5 cubes tuned to 32 would sound everybit as good as the w6s and have more output... that sized coil you should beable to put a solid 1500-2k and it will be perectly fine.. i would do something like the saz1500 seems like the perfect match for the woofer.. you might beable to get away with the new 2000 coming out with the impedance rise..

2-3 cubes sealed3-4 cubes ported tuned @ 25 - 40 hz
how would 4 of these in 15's be with 2 sundown 1500d's strapped? I have the 2 bl 18's now in about 20 cubes before subs and port tuned to 33hz. How would the 4 of them be in that same box? Is that enough for them?

20 cubes is plenty for four of these, more than enough.

As you can see in Derricks test he hit 149.5 dB with just one 1500D on a pair so I think it is plenty of power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i like your style man, really.. most people would have disregarded my comments or tried to defind there product... In no way shape on form am i tring to knock you and i know you products are great..
ultimatly i choose the AE AV speakers because i like john.. honest hard working man, and he has always made great products as long as i have been around(about 10years now)..

you will definitally get some recommendations from me. if fact I am buliding a system for a friend he needs 800-1k(limtied on space electrical upgrade and of course a budget)

do you have the 12s in stock? it will be in the next week or 2.. i would love to give the Zs a try...
No problem. I agree that John is a great guy too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Currently we just have 15s but 12s are in the pipeline!

Did more testing today. 146.8db off the little saz-1000d.

I wonder what they'll do on the saz-3500d?

So banginAltima & I picked up his new pair of Sundown Audio z15"s yesterday. I feel so priveleged cause I got to test them out in my Explorer 1st. My box is a very basic 6ft net volume. Powered by a single Sundown saz-1500d it burped a 149.5 and hit 148.1 on music playing some Kanye West. We're gonna do some more testing tomorrow and see what they can do at different power levels. No doubt this will easily burp over a 150db on the saz-2000d which will be the perfect amp for a pair of these subs. No doubt I'm underpowering them with the saz-1500d. After a 30 second full tilt run on music they were still cold to the touch and it was 80* here today. There isn't even the typical break-in smell with these subs. We can't wait to put more power on them. I believe we're gonna try burping them with a pair of saz-3000s tomorrow. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

I wanna know why they take the time to clean up the glue on the Z, but not that Nightshade... the Z looks SO much cleaner jsut from that little detail

How do you get so loud!!!?? You put a higher number up with a 1000d than I have with my 3000d!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

The cones are different. the Z has a notch that the dust cap sits in, the Nightshade does not.

Edit: the Z also has a bigger lip on the dust cap.
