hey all. ima setup a lil beginner sub test using a 250 watt plate amp in my room. i wanna see what gets the loudest with this amount of power. what would u recommend? something that takes around 300 rms is what i'm looking for.

I have an Ascendant Audio 15" Atlas in my house and two in my car. These subs are very accurate and they have great output for taking 250 watts. I would consider this as an option. Its 145 USD a piece.

i'm looking more at a 10 or a 12..it is a bedroom sharing a floor with a celing and a wall with another bedroom AKA my parents are below me and my sister is in the next room. plus, i need to save on the wood ima need.

I would go with the Atlas because they were specifically engineered to have the ability to sound good in Home and Car application, hence the use of the adjustable QTS... The 15" Atlas sounds great in my home theatre, so IM guessing the 12" would sound good in your application as well.

I'd be willing to bet a Memphi M3 would be a better choice IMO . Memphis is a great company and subs are very nice.

My Shiva is kicking quite well off of 250W in my dorm room...I would either go Shiva or Atlas.

Infinity Kappa Perfect. I had two tens in my room for awhile- they look sweet and sound good + hit hard on little power.

JL W3's are also adept at this- a friend of mine hooked 3 12's to 25 watts on his reciever and they hit just as hard as on his 200 watt Kenwood.

... At least thet's my experience- Im sure there are better ones out there.

I would get the Adire fo sho!

rl-i are meant for both home and car audio use, try one of those out. They are also pretty cheap. I think RE RE series would be ok, but I dont know if it would sound as good as the above mentioned brands.

in a very recenttest,my ist run magnums were nearly 3 Db louder than M3's, with half the power.

M3's = 148.8 Db ~800w @2 ohm

magnums = 151 Db ~ 400w @1 ohm

both scores taken at the kick

edit... power figures werent tested... just going off rated power.
